Hi,
God where do I start....our car seems to be eating money breakfast, lunch and dinner at the moment.
For the last year at leats we haven't been able to open the boot, last year we called our usual MOT place before MOT and asked if this needed to be fixed for MOT we were reassured it wasn't required and last year it passed no problems.
This year we have taken it back to the same place left it and half an hour later they call us to say they can't get in the boot so there's no point going any further?? We said last year it passed with the same problem and they seem to have just sude stepped us.
Does anyone have any explanation for this?
Also does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? How much more money we are going to have fork out for it???
It's had three new tyres in 2 month at £150 I just afford this anymore!

Running a car on the road costs money I'm afraid. Although I have no idea about the legality of the boot needing to work for an MOT.0
-
Pehaps they need to get into the boot to see if their is a spare tyre, and if there is, whether or not it's in a condition to be used on the car?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

They won't be wasting time on the spare - not an MOT item.0 -

Ask them why they want to open it, as having a boot that opens is not itself part of the test.0

gives chapter & verse, basically bald spare wheels are advisory only (S4.1) and the only requirement on boots & tailgate is that they can be secured in the closed position (S6.4)0 -

What for? It's not part of the test.0 -

Tyres fitted to the road wheels only. The vehicle presenter should be informed when it is noticed that there is a defective tyre on a spare wheel.0 -
You can always say you have no spare if this is the issue.0
