My wife received a Sevice Message last night from 'Cheeky Mobile Portal' with a link 'www.iportplus.com'. It seems as if the Cowboys have found another was round unsolicited texts as her T-Mobile account has a block on short codes.

There are many posts about Cheeky Mobile Portal dating back over a year but not all are sent by Sevice Message, though none have been sent by short code, odd? Most have been sent by normal text numbers, for example;

+447500585717
+447500585768
+447774200945
+447760353503
+447881753061

The link is 'www.iportplus.com' with several letters to follow which will obviously take you to some dubious site

The registration of this web address is quite amusing and yet they are allowed to get away with it. Another example of the lack of regulation of the PR industry:

Many of the posts that I found were from Vodafone accounts, some were business/corporate customers but there were posts from all the other networks.

So yet again one year later no one cares! I wonder how many people have clicked on the link and have paid the price?

    I received a similar text last night - at something like 4 o' clock in the morning! Woke me and my girlfriend up. Got the usual "Who's texting you at this time?!" questions!

    It said "CHEEKY MOBILE PORTAL", and had a link to the 'iportplus' website mentioned in the above post. I haven't visited the website, and don't intend to (although a post on another site indicates that it's some !!!!!! website).

    A search for 'cheeky mobile portal' on Google reveals that many people have received this message, and it doesn't seem to seem to be specific to one mobile provider (I am with Orange). I was pleased to see that one of the Google results was to MSE, which has led me to post this.

    I will be keeping an eye out to make sure I haven't been charged anything for this unsolicited message. Even if it's only a few pence, I will be complaing to Orange on a matter of principle.

    It appears that these people have been sending these texts now for a year or two. Can't understand why none of the mobile companies have investigated.
    The best way to save money is not to spend it.
