Just wondering if anyone knows of a great deal to take kids to real Lapland abroad at Christmas??
Would be ever so grateful if anyone knows of this - am now a single parent and has been a long unfulfilled dream to take the children away for Christmas for this, but have no idea where to start, or how to afford it!.....so if anyone has any good deals they know of would be so helpful :A
:T Thanks so much for any help....sorry it's slightly off topic
And thanks to OP for their post!!!:)
Its ridiculously expensive which ever way you do it, there are never any deals as they always sell all the places available. I looked into this a few years ago when i only had 1 child and it was still going to be almost £1000 for 1 day, well 7 hours. But that was 5 yeras ago might be a bit cheaper now. never mind the extra money you have to spend on clothing to keep you warm. Plus the cost of passports if you dont already have them.
Consider spending your money on a full weeks holiday, disneyland paris do some great deals throughout the year, if you keep your ears peeled.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
If you are interested in going to the real Lapland take a look at Inghams. It is cheaper to go for a week than just one day. It is a magical experience that makes you want to go back year after year. You can hire all the ski suits to save money. You can also book flights and accommodation independently which may save you more money.0

Hi pookie junior
Don't know if this is any help as it is still £499 pp (cheap for whats included though!), but if you have a look on travelzoo and search under Lapland they have a good deal on there, £200 off per person. Worth a look just for an idea price wise, but you do have to book by 28th July. Hope this helps.0 -
Awww, so grateful to everyone for their tips and ideas! :j
Thanks so much, going to look into all of them now :j:)0 -

We went to Lapland using Canterbury Travel 15 years ago. I still remember the kid's glowing faces as if it were yesterday. The kids were 6 and 8 and my 8 year old son was so convinced by this trip that I had to gently tell him that Santa was not real when he was 11 and being teased by kids at school for still believing!!
When we went the clothes were loaned to us rather than rented, apart from gloves and boots. We went on a husky sled, one horse open sled, and a ski bob. It was one of the best holidays we ever had, it was not cheap but we did it instead of a summer holiday that year.
If anyone wants to know if it is worth doing, then the answer is a very definite YES.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

How funny!! Took my girls when they were 10 & 5, also with Canterbury Travel - had the same problem with my eldest, she was trying to convince her teacher that Santa was real when she was in year 6!!
It was a magical trip - not a bit commercial - no Santa theme parks - just a small village, wooden chalets, 4 elves (Speedy Sam, Snowy Bowey, Trickey Dickey and Noisy Nod) and very magical skidoo ride to the top of very high hill to Santa's workshop.

We had a great day trip to Lapland a few years ago. There was some offer, I think one of the children went free. It was a wonderful day, and the children were amazed that Father Christmas actually had the letters that they had written!
Although we had a great time, I would advise doing a 3 day trip rather than a 1 day. I have heard of people who booked the 1 day trip, and their plane was delayed due to bad weather. When they finally flew, they only had about 2 hours in Lapland before they had to come home.0
