From my perspective the photographer is one of the key parts of the day. I am going to want to look back on those photos forever and will want them to be good!

That's why we set a reasonably good budget for our photographer. Nothing crazy - we budgeted £1k and we are paying £950. For that we get all images, fully corrected, on DVD and the proof book to keep. But more importantly, we get a photographer we like and get on with and with whom we will feel relaxed & comfortable, and his pictures are great quality.

I think £900 for a full day's photography is good value, and you risk compromising the quality of the images if you go for less. That's not to say that you couldn't find a great deal elsewhere - a lot of talented photographers who want to build up their portfolio will offer less, I'm sure, and the quality may be as good. But for us, it wasn't worth the risk, and we cut back our budget in other areas (and cut out on things like, for instance, buying a photobook in the initial package - we can always go back & get one later) to be able to afford a good photographer.

We couldn't afford a full price photographer, but by having our wedding on a friday in October, meant our photographer was able to offer us a deal which is 3 hours, full DVD of un-copyrighted photo's for £300.
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

That's kind of the thing I meant though I waffled around the point a bit! I guess I meant that it is worth getting a really good photographer, who you feel relaxed around, probably more so than paying less overall and getting more things in the 'package' like albums, duration etc. :) Quality over quantity and all that.

Just been reccommended these from a good friend who got married last September.
    Their packages seem reasonable.

Again which is great if you have that kind of money but some people are getting married on a budget of £1000 for everything, surely for them someone is better than no one?

this is completly true- £1000 is not in my budget- half this amount and it is- there are good people out there who will charge £500 and less- its just finding them. and their quality can be as good or better as the ones that charge £1000- so why not go for the cheaper ones!

I think what Lavendyr was trying to say is she would rather compromise on the products received and get good quality photo's taken.
    Bump due 22nd September
