3GS Blocking Landline Calls

I got a text from my wife this morning saying that a call from our doctor had been blocked by her 3GS. Since neither of us has the first clue how to set up call barring and the doctor isn't exactly someone we would choose to block anyway, I was wondering if anyone might know why this could happen and, more importantly, how do we prevent it from happening again in the future.

I'm not sure that this is an iPhone issue - it's probably something to do with your service provider. Who are you with? I'm pretty sure that with O2 you can block certain calls

The wife is on 3. It seems strange that they should block a standard landline number, though. I think perhaps the missus has just caught something on the touchscreen by accident.
