i used to use the super plus tampax when i was really bad, but even they didn't last very long. they didn't leak though. can't you change just before you get into the pool and just after?

i hope you find something, not fair that this rules your day!

The docs can give you some pills that kind of delay your period? Can't remember what they are called

Norethisterone they are called, I have used them before and they worked a treat. I normally use super plus tampons for the first couple of days (either Lil-lets or Wilkinsons own brand I find are also good). I tend to use Always Night pads as well and have never had any bother.

I've always been curious about using a mooncup too...may go over and have a mooch on that thread.

i was also going to suggest lil-lets until i read peoples posts on mooncup, until now i'd never even heard of it but i'm really liking all the reviews that i've read, i've now got to try one,:j my concern now is if i really like the mooncup what do i do with my excess supply of tampons i have :o:rotfl:

Lillets, but any tampon that expands width ways (as opposed to Tampax lengthways) is much better in my opinion. I dont get on with 'Always' I find the top sheet chafes. Kotex (if you can still find them) are just as absorbent, dont leak and much softer.

Some Ladies donate them to a Women's Refuge or similar type of charity. I've just kept mine in the drawer - can't bring myself to throw them out.

I've been using a Menstrual Cup since last September and the one cup I really couldn't get on with was the Moon Cup. Not enough capacity for heavy days and a very intrusive and thick rim which made insertion uncomfortable. If this was the only cup available I'd have given up and gone back to disposables. Thankfully it isn't the only one.

I tried other brands: for heavy days a Large Lunette is a godsend, huge capacity and not painful to insert, it's a very well designed cup from Finland. For medium to light days a Large Meluna is super-comfy to insert and remove and holds plenty. Made in Germany these are cheaper than the silicone cups and made of a type of plastic - they come in lots of colours and cost about £12 (ish). (N.B., this is my own experience, Your Vag might vary)

Just my personal peeve, but don't limit yourselves to just trying a Moon Cup - there are other brands out there. Better brands in my opinion.

For everything you ever wanted to know about Menstrual Cups:

It took me about 3 cycles to finally get the right position and to realise why the cups were leaking, don't try them just the once and give up. Some Women take to them right away and some take 2 or 3 or 4 or more cycles before the penny drops.

Another vote for Lil-Lets. I am very heavy for the first day or two and use the Super Plus Extra (the ones in a purple box). You used to only be able to get them in non-applicator but since I took a 'tampon break' and had a baby they are now available in compact applicator as well, which is fab!

I actually find tampax the least comfortable to use. Tesco, Asda and Boots own brand are all preferable but they don't do the super dooper absorbent ones that Lil-lets do.

Tampax are rubbish, i've never leaked on asda's own or tesco's, but hubby went and bought some last time for me from our local shop and i leaked several times whilst using them and they felt rock hard to me, i hadn't used tampax for years before that as they are dearer...won't be using them again either :(

Never tried lilets though, will have a go. I was looking into the mooncup thing, just need persuading :D really not sure about it.

I wish I'd found them years ago. I would have saved zillions of pounds in money and been able to go out and do things instead of staying indoors and needing to be within 2 seconds of a toilet for 2 days a month.

Do some research first though. Don't just buy the first brand you hear about. I wasted £20 doing that. Have a look at the livejournal link I posted above for more information, but bear in mind that people who post there are often newbies who are having problems and need help. The ones that take to them straightaway tend not to post so much.

On my worst day I would get around an hour from a tampon, compared to 6 hours with a Lunette.

I even blogged on livejournal about the first time I walked my dog on a really heavy day (I was so happy!), when I used disposables I wouldn't have even left the house!
