Hi....need your suggestions....i'm away on hols this week and looks like bad timing for my period. I'm occasionaly use tampons but for one day of my period it is just so heavy, that day I will avoid swimming, unfortunately I usually can't go anywhere that day as I have had too many mis-haps.
Other than Tampax which don't seem to absorb much, has anyone found a better one and used whilst swimming....also which pads do you find are most absorbent.....thanks in advance

Have you tried a mooncup?
Google it, I can't post a link yet:beer: Getting married 18/06/11 :beer:0 -
Most tampon ranges have a super plus size. You can also use two tampons together for extra absorbency, just as long as you remember to take them both out.0

Oh gosh I don't think 2 tampons is a good idea but thanks...off to google mooncup???Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

DONT USE 2 tampons - that is so dangerous - it can lead to toxic shock syndrome.
Are you on the pill? If you are, you can keep taking it to ensure you don't have your period for the week you are on holiday!Total Quidco earnings - £547.98
Everyone is scared of someone or something, everyone loves someone or something, and everyone has lost someone or something! BE NICE!0 -
I'm an RGN and it's entirely safe to use two tampons at once. The vagina is very elastic and the tampons cannot get "lost". You can only get TSS if you leave either one of the tampons inside for any length of time.0

No I had my tubes tied last year, previous to that I had the implant and no or very light periods....now i can't believe how heavy I am.
The Mooncup sounds interesting and good for lighter days, not sure I would trust for heavier days, but its something I would consider buying for future use.
So anyone found a difference in reliability in the various tampon brands out there.Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -
I use Tesco own brand non applicator ones and they're absolutely fine!0

Gosh you have my sympathies - I am ALWAYS on my period when travelling! It just always works out that way!
The docs can give you some pills that kind of delay your period? Can't remember what they are called but I am sure Google would turn up the name.
I am another one for the Mooncup sadly can't use mine cos I have a Mirena in now and I think the Mooncup dislodged the last coil I had.
Failing that there are Sea Sponges although never used them.
I also favour Lilletts. They just don't leak the way Tampax used to with me!
Have a lovely holiday!
xxI have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!0 -
I suffer from very heavy bleeding and use super plus tampax but just change them a lot. Surely if you were going swimming you could put one in before you go in the pool and change it when you get out? If your bleeding is too heavy for that you must be anaemic with all the blood loss.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
