Overseas internet access

I am shortly due to spend 2 weeks in Belgium on "holiday" but need to bring my laptop to do some work. I therefore need internet access. Obviously paying a squillion quid per byte to my UK carrier is out of the question. I was wondering what cheap methods there might be to do so? I could visit an internet cafe or coffee shop providing wifi but that is fairly restrictive and I am not sure any exist where I shall be.
I have been thinking about buying a PAYG dongle in Belgium itself. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance
Dave

I believe buying a local dongle is always the way to go.
Its free to access other countries internet via the PC, so seems harsh roaming charges cost so much. As such PAYG or potentially if you use alot a 30 day rolling contract is the way to go, on a local provider.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Must admit, I take my laptop on hols, and normally get by at good 'ol Mcd's usually just park outside and can then connect up, get emails, even make voip calls etc, far cheaper and better quality than 3g!I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for the replies. Looks like I can get a Vodafone USB dongle from the UK for £25 and then 15 days of data by ordering a "reload card" from Proximus (9 days, 450 MB for 15 Euros, plus 10 Euros for their SIM). Since they use the Vodafone dongle it seems all will work fine that way. Unless there are other suggestions of course :-)
I shall definitely try the McD way too though - wifi is so much faster :-)0 -
