Argos home delivery

I think sometimes Argos don't order large, relatively expensive things from their suppliers until they have a firm order. I'm sure this happens with beds and suchlike. Or they just have one of something and if someone else gets the one you've paid for then you just have to wait!0

We ordered 3 bags of play sand and it came on our chosen day three days later. Was a little annoyed that the delivery slot was 7am to 9pm. Thankfully it came around 2pm so wasn't too much of a wait in.0

We moved house at Xmas and generally pleased with the delivery across 3 diff orders.
We ordered two sofas on a BOGOF deal, and had to change the delivery address due to a last min change in our move plans - although we didn't think we'd get the sofas until after Xmas, we actually had to delay our delivery a couple of times when Argos had them early, then thought again they wouldn't be in stock for xmas as our original order got re-allocated, BUT had both in time for Xmas - great for relaxing on after Xmas dinner!
We also ordred 4 dining room chairs, I booked delivery for the day of our move (Friday) so we could take delivery - then one of our new neighbours came over and apparently they'd been delivered on the Thurs - he'd kindly taken them in. I was a bit miffed as I had chosen a certain delivery day for a reason I don't know what would have happened had they not been able to deliver, but generally can't complain about early delivery.
Also ordered bedside draws with Homebase and had them delivered to my work, the guys were really friendly, items delivered when they were supposed to be and they even lugged them from the front of the office to my car for me.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Had mixed results....several have been really good, but we've also had orders turn up too early that have been downright inconvenient. I upset the driver once when he had to wait about 15 mins for us to clear stuff but no way could we have got a large box through as we were moving furniture around. Worst problem was when they were delivering something for my mum. She got a phone call asking them to confirm her house number, when she did they told her they were parked outside. She couldn't see anything and asked them to check they had the right road, as there are 2 roads close by with similar names. Turned out they were about 40 miles away in a different postal area altogether so mega screw-up. They were adamant my mum had given them the postcode they'd got though she'd got the confirmation details with everything correct.
I know 'these things happen' but what annoyed me in those cases were the attitudes from the drivers. And the main gripe I think has to be the fact that they'll happily debit your card even if they can't deliver the stuff for some time0 -
I have just emailed them through the website to tell them to cancel the order again. Lets hope they do it this time.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

We recently brought a corner sofa from them and arranged for it to be delievered on moving day. When it arrived we unpacked it and noticed that they had given us 2 opposite parts. After looking on the delivery sheet, they had packed a right hand and left hand piece together
My other half got on the phone to them and was told that it would have to be re-ordered and it would be at least another 28 days before we had the right pieces.
She ended up speaking to a manager and was told by him that the order could be fast-tracked so that the item could be delivered earlier than the 28 days we were quoted. He also told her he would phone back to confirm the new date for delivery.
The next day so cheesed that we hadn't received any phone call from them we contacted them again. We were told again that the order would take 28 days and that it hadn't been processed at all, as promised.
After a few choice words to a higher manager and the threat of us contacting trading standards due to breach of agreement by them, they managed to arrange for the item to be delievered 5 days later including taking the whole of the original sofa out and replacing it with a brand new one, removing all packaging and sending us a £50 cheque within 1 week :rotfl:
The day it arrived the delivery drivers were horrible as they were asked to sort the old and new sofas out properly. Did get our sofa right in the end mind.
The main positive that has come out of it is we will NEVER buy anything from them again :T0
