Argos home delivery

What are peoples' experiences of Argos home delivery?

We have ordered a storage box for the garden. It was ordered on 17th June and despite being out of stock, the cheeky beggars still took the money on the same day (it was put on our Argos card).

We are expecting a call before 20th July to arrange delivery (this is what our order tracking says). We never got an email either to confirm the order, so when we hadn't heard anything from them I had to ring them up last week to get the order number (I didn't write it down at the time of ordering). I was told by the person that the item was still out of stock.

Am not very hopeful about this at the moment, as it's now 18th July and they haven't rung me.

  • I've used them a few times, always been great. However, they delivered my washing machine twice - they came back the next day with another washing machine.

but it was just a wee mistake and they hadn't charged me double or anything.

obviously i told them i already had the machine!

I had major issues with Argos delivery before (bought bikes in sale).

Constantly told different dates (which were never honoured). Snappy, unhelpful staff on telephone.

    Have never used since.

Home Direct I've had good service with, they ring, say an hour before delivery and put it where you want it.
Their couriers I've had trouble with, delivered to wrong address and items put on the wrong lorry,

Experience has been good with Argos. Nothing really bad to say except perhaps missing items from packaging but customer service was helpful in sorting it out.

Ordered a shed over 3 weeks ago, order said we would be contacted by 16th july with a delivery date, .... so far nothing... will give them another few days before I start ringing, but I suspect I WILL NEVER GET IT.

We ordered a shed last year. It was not in stock, delivery was quoted at 21 days, but like Abbafan the money was taken straight off the credit card. On day 20 we got an automated call advising it still wasn't in stock and we would be contacted within yet another 21 days with a delivery date. We wanted the shed then to put it up, and I wasn't prepared to wait because for all I knew we would be waiting another 3 weeks, then another 3 weeks...

I phoned and cancelled the order and have to say I was pleased with the service as the refund was made instantly - although of course the refund didn't come back onto my credit card until after that month's payment had to be made...

Yeah ours is an outside storage box, as we need to clear some space in the shed, so we've got secure storage for new bikes we're getting for ourselves. But at this rate we will have the bikes and will have to keep them in the house until the storage situation is sorted.

Just had the automated call from Argos to tell that item delivery has been delayed until 11th August. :(

Not surprised at all. I know when I tell hubby tonight, the order will be cancelled and we will be buying from somewhere else.

Yeah I got a letter yesterday saying 'high demand' 'waiting for stock' blah-di-blah-di-blah... have to wait until middle of August now. Trouble is I can't get one for anything like the price I paid anywhere else so I'm just going to have to grit my teeth and mutter.

Have since bought this from somewhere else. Hubby phoned Argos last Friday to cancel, but have checked and the order is still live.

Will have to keep phoning them as we want the refund!
