I was just wondering if these performance figures were acceptable for a Windows 7 computer and what other posters figures were?

Depends on what you're doing with it. If its web/email/IM/Office, a rating of 1 would be enough. TBH Windows Vista and Windows 7 performance figures aren't worth a toss.

    Mine as follows, 64bit.

    Processor
    6.4

    Memory 6.4

    Graphics 4.7

    Gaming graphics 3.6

    Primary hard disk 5.9

    Graphics are on-board.

Way over for my needs, but TBH, it was only a few quid over the most basic stuff when I built it, reusing some of old system e.g. DVD rewriter/case/psu.

Playing music, burning CD, converting audio files from FLAC to mp3, 2x Firefox, Thunderbird, Excel, Notepad++ and Kompozer all open together and it never breaks sweat.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • All Win7 performance is measured to the lowest denominator. If you had 500 fast CPU's and 26 top of the range Graphics cards you would still get around 5.9.

An on-MOBO controller with a good SSD should get more.

In short 5.9 is ok and average .. .. .. only a Solid State Drive will improve the [ lowest denominator ] figure, hard drives drag the performance down. As Hammyman says the figures are worth nothing because we all use hard drives.

Except - its worth running the test if you want Win7 ' eye candy ' - if you don't run the test Win7 assumes by default your components are not capable of good graphics performance.

Which Windows rounds to (calls) 5.9 the same as mine, :p.

Yes I know you have higher processor and memory values. :)

Which as Richie points out, is why it's virually worthless, because you will almost certainly be always constrained by your HD, until you go SSD.

I'd be interested to see an SSD hd figures.
    Move along, nothing to see.

On my desktop 6.6 for my hard disk. But the computer I'm using currently overall score is 2.4. Fastest thing on this thing is the hard drive at 5.9.
