Hi everyone; and Welcome to all the new Flyers we have this week.

Late start for me this week, but I am in again; thanks as always to Flylady Central Command.

As always, I'm dog-tired after the weekend, but I'll get as much of the list done as I can (probably not the extras today though - sorry).
    Hello
Someone has recommended I come on here for a boot up the butt!!!. My house is a mess and I dont know where to start. Ive recently been diagnosed with depression after walking out of a violent and controlled marriage and needless to say after years of someone else pulling the strings I am finding it hard to get motivated. When I was married my house was always spotless (it had to be otherwise the consequences werent very nice) I feel like im rebelling but im just being a lazy cow. Can you lovely ladies help me get my life (and home) back please?
Good for you! Well done on getting out of it. I've been there, and I know just how soul-destroying it can be. Has the Doc given you any meds for the depression? Or are you having a "talking" therapy? Several of us here have depression, so we understand.:o I find it helps just knowing that a couple of hundred other ladies (and a few men also) up and down the country are doing the same tasks - I dunno, just makes it not so arduous. *insert shruggy smilie*
    Afternoon all.

Twins last week at primary school this week :(.

Eight legged phobics avert eyes now!!

The little boy from next door came over to play with the twins at the weekend and it would appear that he took it upon himself to liberate the tarantula from it's tank.
I went in to check on the twins at midnight and spotted Salsa sat on a box in their room looking very pleased with herself!!!
I managed to persuade her back into her tank with a bit of gentle shoving :).
Oh bless! I hope Salsa is none the worse for her adventure (Sorry, I happen to like eight-leggeds:o).

I'm going to make a blueberry fool for tonight's pud next, before I do anymore cleaning in the kitchen - silly to clean it all spotless just to get it dirty again straight away.

    Laters, all.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Hello - I'm here this week. Aiming for level 1 - anything else is a bonus!
Mammy to 3 gorgeous children. :)
  • Thank you everyone!

Did the 2 hours' roasting at 82 degrees this morning. I think the children weren't taking the whole Sports Day idea quite as seriously as some of the teachers, who looked quite disappointed that a motley crew of parents beat them in the Staff vs Parents Relay. Suggested they do a Tug of War next year to allow for the parents who don't want to run around. I'm not there then, but plenty of people will be.

Came back and realised that DD's white jeans, wanted for the Leavers' Party this evening, are still stained with something tomatoey despite having been through the wash once.

    So:

1 white wash out and drying
    WM
    DW
    Wipe counter and cooker

    Done.

Now debating whether to have a bacon & egg banjo or something slightly more healthy. I suspect that once I put the kettle on that the call of the banjo shall win.

    ******

After that, I have decided to use my third week without DD2 and book myself and The Bloke into a Paris hotel. So the passport gets used for the first time in my life. CBA with the whole driving and parking thing, so will get train at St Pancras and make do with public transport. Return tickets and 6 nights' hotel is currently coming in at £500. I'm not bothered by fancy, I just need clean, and seeing as The Bloke's brother lives in the 13th Arrondisement, just round the corner from the metro, we won't need to travel too much. Can anyone recommend a cheap but clean hotel to try and whether it is going to be cheaper to book two day returns each (and not use one portion of each) rather than get a longer duration ticket?

The Doctor has given me citalopram which has been increased over the past few weeks and I am also waiting for counselling.

Most of the rooms in my house are clean and tidy except the kitchen/dining room which seams to be a dumping ground for literally everything and anything. I have mounds of washing piled up everywhere and boxes of clutter that need to be sorted out, its got to the stage where we cannot eat at the table (coz you cant see it for paperwork) and I now no longer know what washing is clean and whats dirty!!!

    Suggestion for a quick start.

    Get three bin bags.

Pick up item of clothing. Is it spotlessly clean and ready to be put away? If yes, place it in pile to be taken up immediately this job is done. If not,

put it in bag A if it's lights & whites washing
put it in bag B if it's darks
put it in bag C if it's stained and has not come out in the wash on the two previous attempts/has a huge tear in it/brings back memories of the KH ex/doesn't quite fit perfectly/you don't really like it/is going to sit there waiting three months for you to repair it and still get pushed to the bottom of the pile. He can't decide what you do anymore - if you can't be doing with sorting it out, luzz it.

Repeat until one bag is full.

Go and deal with that one bag - put it in the wash or bin as appropriate.

Repeat until you do not need to call yourself Wishee-Washee any longer.

It may not be particularly moneysaving, but there is no law that says you must keep everything. If you are surrounded by orphan socks, grey undies and stained T-shirts, chuck 'em and use the money you would have spent trying to wash and repair them in buying a whole new load of them. I suggest getting multiple pairs of things in the same colour, as it makes finding a sock's brother a much easier process.

It's also a rather cathartic experience.

At some point, I would also direct you to any chipped, cracked or bad memory crockery and a disposal method involving a very strong box and a good throwing arm.
