I thought I was getting an unlock code from unlockcodes2u.com. They ask fro your imei number etc and send you an email for £3.99 +vat. What you get is the FREE advice given on the this website and NO UNLOCK CODE. A complete scam. Ouch.

When networks normally charge £20 to unlock I'd be suspicious of someone who says they can do it for quarter of the price! Case of "too good to be true" unfortunately.
Locking is really a ridiculous concept when you are normally tied into a plan anyway and you actually "own" the hardware. Some countries have sensibly banned this practise.

If you paid on a credit or debit card contact your provider as there is a chance they can do a charge back for as the transaction is effectively fraudulent.
  • Just got an email from unlockcodes2U.com with an apology and a full refund. Makes a change.

In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

Unlock calcs are all over the net, so paying even ¼ of the service providers £20 charge for "unlocking" means you are close to being mugged off.

DIY, free or cheap unlocking has been around for years. Some networks do it for free. T-mobile sent me my unlock code free for a PAYG phone.
