Beat the Fruitshoot Scam

I also avoid cordial and water in bars and restaurants, I don't know the content values but it must be worse than fruit shoots. Whenever we have had to get them it has just been like a syrup, despite asking for it to be made really weak, then when it gets dripped on clothes you just need to look at the colour of it to be horrified! (You don't get that kind of flourscent naturally!)
My 2 year old is at the tantrum stage and likes drinking out of fruit-shoot bottles. We buy Tesco's own brand no added sugar, which my 10 year old takes as a treat in his pack-up box. We then use the empty bottles to refill for the toddlers drinks with fresh orange or apple. He thinks he's having a "big boy" drink and we're saving on baby beakers (those travel ones are really expensive!).Irony.

i'm with the tap water people!
I just don;t get squash in any form>... why oh why introduce it to kids? I never have. they drink water, milk ..... and fruit juice for a treat. and they love it. my dd now asks for water at friends parties when she's offered fruit shoots ( "which flavour do you want?" ) because there ususally isn't a fruit juice option, which i hink is appalling.

Eugh to the artificial sweeteners...
So anyway, I actually wrote to Robinsons a couple of years ago, saying why do Fruit Shoots have to be so sweet and unhealthy, and they wrote back and basically said, "If you don't like it, tough. We've got loads of satisfied customers, so go away". Or something along those lines.

i havent compared but i really think a weak orange or blackcurrant squash ( sugar not sugar free) in a pub is much better for a child than a fruit shoot ?!0 -

I must be drinking at the wrong pubs then, because whenever we've ordered a blackcurrant cordial it has been like "syrup" and a horrendus bright purple. Not at all like a fruit squash you would get at home. As I said earlier I avoid both squash and fruit shoot with the toddler as he is much better on fresh juice, but sometimes in a pub/family restaurant you'd don't get much choice!
At the moment I'm on to a winner as my toddler thinks he's drinking the fruit shoot but really it's a "recycled" bottle with fresh orange and water.Irony.

Totally agree (would have pressed the thanks button but it isn't there).
Now my kids are in their late teens they can drink what they like but water and milk are still their drinks of choice.0 -
