Beat the Fruitshoot Scam

I don't know about you but when we eat out at restaurants with our 3 children, the only drinks on offer for the kids are Fruitshoots, which are not only normally over £1 a bottle, but are also full of sugar.
Well, we have discovered you can order blackcurrant or lime cordials with water or soda for as little as 30 or 40 pence, now these are slightly healthier than fruitshoots, not as much sugar, much cheeper and the kids think they are being treated to a "posh" drink in a glass with a straw and ice cubes, and everthing.

I am very cheap, I always get DS tap water. They never charge us for posh mineral water when I tell them it's for a child.Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0

i used to run a bar and restaurant and so know the mark ups on drinks. When we go out i always drink soda and lime as you only get charged for the shot of cordial not the water very rarely does my drink come to more than 50pi'm living in a parallel universe0

Or...you can be really naughty and take your own drinks with you (fruitshoots bought from supermarket that look the same as the ones sold in the bar). You have to be v.descreet though and i only have the nerve if I know we are drinking outside on summer evenings... Oooppsss sorry....0

we usually get our kids a half a orange / blackcurrant squash when eating out or an orange juice & lemonade
very rarely buy fruitshoot ,have you tasted that stuff !!!0 -
The ones we visit occasioanlly are now offering the flavoured water version of Fruitshoot more, but agreed the price is shocking considering the size of the drink, and all that wasted packaging to go with it. I've bought them orange and soda for a long time but the shocking amount of advertising for the other drinks, inc panda pop types for over £1 each usual means they moan on for other drinks. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I've always taken a water bottle for my little boy. if anyone queries it I say he will only drink certain things, so I have to bring it incase you don't sell anything he will drink!0

Fruit shoots taste disgusting. The sugar content is unbelievable. Even the water version is still too sweet.
For some reason tho, kids love them. I must admit tho, sometimes I am weak and bow to the pressure from the kids for an easy life!0 -
I bought my kids the Fruit shoot water in a bar, it tastes like Ribena but sweeter. We tend to get t he kids a Britvic Orange left in the bottle with a straw. I find that Bar staff look at you like you have two heads when you say you don't want Fruitshoots for your kids.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

fruit shoots nasty nasty nasty
full of sugar and aspartame
one of my neighbours lets their child drink these all day long and she is bouncing off the walls come bedtime :rolleyes:0 -
I hate Fruit Shoots. And find it shocking how deluded so many parents are when they go, "Well, I'm giving them the No Added Sugar ones, they're healthy!"
Eugh to the artificial sweeteners...
So anyway, I actually wrote to Robinsons a couple of years ago, saying why do Fruit Shoots have to be so sweet and unhealthy, and they wrote back and basically said, "If you don't like it, tough. We've got loads of satisfied customers, so go away". Or something along those lines. :mad:0
