They have approached us and been very agressive about the whole thing so am trying to find some information out so I can go with some facts. I will definitely try the softly softly approach we have only been there 2 weeks!
I agree with the post about checking deeds etc, you can download your neighbours deeds from the landregistry.gov.uk for a nominal fee as well (can't remember of the top of my head).
Out of interest how long do you think your neighbour has lived in their house and did the previous owners have a car?
I ask because it's pretty odd for someone to suddenly decide to put a fence up. Which leads me onto is it possible you've done something to upset him?
Maybe something happened when you were moving in. Removals men partially parking on his drive/land, walking all over it, blocking him in etc. - you might not even know it had happened. People are different, some will politely complain about a problem, others will get angry and be rude about it and the worst will sit and stew and figure out how to f-you up good and proper.
Might be worth having a subtle chat with your other neighbours to find out what that particular neighbour is like."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
If the only way you can gain access to your garage is by driving over his land - and if he puts a fence on his land - then it's pretty much 99.99% tough.
We really need a scale diagram, with arrows pointing to bits.....0 -

Unless there is an access provision within the deeds.0 -
Hi
Have checked and it is our land anyway, so that is fine.
We did not use removal vans as we moved ourselves and have been very careful not to upset anyone at all!

DefCon1! Ahhh hahahaha. Really made me chuckle, that.
Becca, not laughing at you, glad it's your land. Hope you get it sorted without too much aggro. Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0
