Can anyone tell me if my new neighbour wants to put a fence up right in front of my garage door which would prevent me from accessing the garage and also prevent me from opening my passenger door on my car as it would go to the fence, can he do this? It is stopping our access.
Thanks
Thanks

I think you might need to give more details for anyone to give any adviceTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0

Depends on the layout of the property and what it says in your title deeds. If the fence is on their land and you have no right over that land to the garage then you would need to show you've aquired a right through 20 years use.
Either way- you'll probably need to have a word with a solicitor :P0 -
Basically his garden runs down the side of our drive/garage and there is a piece of land (a thin strip) running down the side which goes up to our garage wall, which is where he is planning to put the fence.
Is that any better? Thank youFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
Is it on his land? On what you believe to be shared land? Or on your land?
Do you have a copy of your deed/paperwork?
If it's on his land, he can.
If you believe it to be shared land, then you'd need to compare deeds/paperwork with each other to find out what's what.
If it's on your land, he can't.0 -
I am checking our deeds with the solicitors in the morning as to whose land it is. It may be his in which case I am sure he cannot block access???First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

Just a quick query but have you tried approaching the neighbours to discuss it rather than going straight to DefCon 1?0

They have approached us and been very agressive about the whole thing so am trying to find some information out so I can go with some facts. I will definitely try the softly softly approach we have only been there 2 weeks!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

So is he actually planning to build the fence across your garage, or just very close to the door making it difficult to use?0

Draw a map, scan it, put it on Photobucket and post a link here.
References to "a thin strip running down the side" are hard to visualise....0
