BT or Plusnet

I am currently with TalkTalk who as we know are hiking up there charges from the end of the month. I have contacted their retentions team and unless I take a phone & broadband package with them, my monthly cost will stay as is (19.99 from 30th July). I was told that I was not eligible for any special deal (despite being with them for 5 years) because of our line!
The two best deals I can find available in our area are with BT and Plusnet.
Just on the package and cost alone, BT are slightly ahead as they also offer BT Openzone wi-fi as part of the package, although the 18 month term versus the 12 month term for Plusnet is a little off-putting.
But in terms of service and broadband problems - after reading all of the complaints on here - it looks like I'll be moving to Plusnet.
But are BT really that bad? Or are the number of complaints just comparative to the larger market share they have?

Yes. BT really are that bad. Every company will have a certain number of issues and dissatisfied customers, but BT come consistently bottom for customer service in separate independent surveys every year.
The complaints are not just on this forum, but in the media and survey sites, such as:

And Plusnet consistently come in the top 5-despite being owned by BT.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Well you could do worse than BT...

Thanks for your input guys. It looks like it's plusnet then, slightly disappointing though as the wi-fi part of the BT package would've be really useful.£400+ in my £2 coin tablet fund0
