Over the past few years O2 have realy gone down the pan!

When I joined them I had:

    Monthly rollover unused mins
    Inc 0845 /0870 numbers
O2 treats that gave you extra mins or texts
Loyalty discounts of around £15 per month
Inc picture messaging / euro texts
Free voicecall mins (not out of your allowance)
    Unlimited internet

What next are they going to do away with apart from customers???

    I quite like 02.

I have an iPhone on PAYG.

£10 Simplicity (unlimited any network texts and 500MB internet)
+ £7.50 family and friends bolt on for up to 5 people (texts, calls and picture messages)

£17.50, so not a bad deal at all.

I used to be on 02 Unlimited for £15 a month which was good too.

    & I love top-up suprises.

I think mobiles have come on a lot really, I mean unlimted calls to other 02 numbers and texts for £15 a month! that's good.
    9/70lbs to lose :)

The UK mobile market is now saturated and the networks have switched from trying to attract new customers (where they have to try and offer a better deal than anyone else) to retaining customers (where they only have to match what their competitors are offering). The exception to this is Three, who are on a massive expansion campaign. The only way the other companies will start making concessions again is if people start leaving them in droves.

I am with 02 for mobile calls and have Favourite places so get 500 free minutes if I call from home which is my Fav place..

However I also have 02 mobile broadband and with PAYG it's £15 for 30 days internet and 3GB data, but in September it's going down to 2GB per month for £15.

It does seem that 02 are battling down the hatches and not giving as much as they used to.

I'm with O2 at the moment on a sim only pay monthly, costs me £25.

600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet bolt on (well 1gb a month)

Was looking to upgrade to a better phone and a 18 month contract, but don't want to end up with a 500mb internet limit.

I don't want to leave them neccesarily though as I have broadband with them and am very satisfied with it. Plus you get money off broadband for having a phone with them.

Don't want to put any more of my eggs in their basket, so not switching to their phone line. It could be costly if needing to switch back to a BT phone line in the future, to get another internet provider.

Going to look at actually using sim only plans with whatever provider and buying my mobile of choice in the future, rather than be tied down to a long contract.

The problem is that companies now can't afford to give away too much, because the top end handsets are worth a pretty penny nowadays.

Also the fairly recent internet on mobile devices explosion has meant that their networks are struggling to cope.

The best deals seem to now generally be available if you want a mid range phone and are willing to sign up to a long contract.

High end phones generally cost £400 + to buy new, although I'm sure they don't cost the companies that much. No longer can they afford to give people a 12 month contract for £20 with loads of free stuff.

I was in Tesco today and the guy on the mobile phones section said that Tesco are doing a 12 month contract on the iPhone4. I think most others are 24 month.

And you pay a reduced fee for the actual phone.

I only use a cheap phone for mobile calls myself.

I've been with O2 for as long as I can remember and they've always offered 'something' when it came to renewal. When it came to upgrade my existing iPhone 3GS they weren't able to offer anything at all.

The Vodafone tariff is slightly better so decided to go with them - WHAT A SAGA !!!

    1) They lost the order that was placed online (and didn't inform me I had to find out)
    2) Spoke to sales and placed an order over the phone with delivery next day.
    3) Received two text messages saying the new iPhone was on its way (they were sending two)
    4) Neither arrived !!
    5) Vodafone promised to put it on a Sat AM delivery - didn't arrive.
    6) Its on a Mon AM delivery so lets see what happens tomorrow ....

I do feel these companies have become so large they don't really care about retaining customers. With hindsight I wish I'd stayed with O2 so I will cancel the contract with Vodafone if the new iPhone doesn't arrive tomorrow :j
