Not strictly to do with the original post, but maybe you could answer a quick query - can you close an account online or does it have to be done by post? Can you completely empty the account first? Reason I'm asking is their online help is useless, I'm deaf so cannot phone them and they do not allow you to email them so I'd have to write to them - just thought, as several of you have referred to 'closing' your accounts you might be able to answer my query more quickly!

From memory, I don't think you can close the account online. When I closed one (quite a while ago), I emptied the account down to zero, but had to 'phone them to close. They sent a cheque for the closing interest.0 -
