Tesco internet saver

My Tesco internet saver bonus came to an end 2 months ago and I closed the account down. I rang tesco yesterday to see if I re-applied would I get the bonus again and was I told "I think so".
Does anyone know for sure if I will receive it or not please?

Thank you.

  • SPOOKY! I've just (5 mins ago) gone through exactly this exercise, wondering what would happen. Have applied for a new joint account, to replace the expiring one and it seems to have happened ok. Time will tell I guess.

Logged out of Tesco, logged into MSE for my morning trawl and there was your post!

I'll let you know what happens, but also assume someone else will give us both the lowdown.

    In a word, yes.

This works, just open a new account and transfer your money across. Pretty pointless, but I'm not complaining.

I've already got a Tesco internet save account (currently empty due to poor rate). Does anyone know if I can open another account and get the bonus rate?

only one account is eligible for a bonus, so you'll have to transfer the money and close the old account.

I had a letter today from Tesco Savings telling me that they're going to give me a further fixed bonus of 1.50% on my Internet Saver for another 12 months (making a rate of 2.75% AER) from 1 September (current bonus expires 27 August). I don't actually use the account, as I've got better rates elsewhere, but I'll keep it open now just in case I need it.

    Just got the same letter.

I do use the account - great with faster payments both in and out. Only my AA saver offers better rates at the moment.

they seem to do that a lot, they extended my interest bonus last november (account opened in november 08 they then advised would extend the bonus in november 09 till november 2010,) i am hoping they extend it again, but have my doubts they will offer a second extension of the bonus rate.

i too have some money in the tesco account as they are good with FP's and customer service so far etc and like their online banking

Yes they did it with the 1st internet saver I had with them but then they brought out a newer version which had a better bonus.

At that time I opened a new internet saver, got the bonus and closed the older one. That was last July and many on here did exactly the same - have a look back and you will find the thread.

looks like i was wrong to doubt them, they have sent me a letter confirming they are extending the bonus again, not bad am very happy as seems to be one of the few banks doing this, as the bonus will now be extended again, so will be 3 years bonus!
