Lost paying in slip

Hi,
My friend deposited £500 pounds into his parents account on the 18th of June at a Natwest branch. The money never arrived.
He checked with his elderly parents who seemed unsure and waited for a statement to arrive. The money never arrived.
Now the problem is he can't find the paying in slip! He is adamant he put it into the right account as he had a statement with him. The bank refuses to check whats happened to this money without the paying in slip.
It's a lot of money, that's just disappeared and i know he's going crazy searching for that slip.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

If your friend cannot find the receipt and the bank refuse to investigate further his/her only option is to start a formal complaint.0

Thanks,
Who would you complain to, branch manager or head office?
I've phoned the branch and spoken to a senior member of staff who echoed the reply my friend got, "no slip no proof of deposit, hence nothing we can do." They won't investigate it at all, and i can be quite persuasive!0 -
I would raise a formal complaint.
Can the person confirm who served them? They could check the CCTV footage etc.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
was it cash or cq? If cq, has it debited the account?0

He paid in cash.
They wouldn't check their records without a paying in slip, he gave them an approximate time, date, notes and described the lady who served him, but they won't budge.
It annoys me because they won't even look. They must have a record of all the transactions for that day, it should be easy to find a specific transaction with all the information he can provide.
He's offered a reward to anyone who can help find that elusive slip. I've checked the back of the sofas and under the bed, but no luck. He's moved houses, so as you can imagine everything is in chaos. I feel sorry for the poor sod, he tried to help his old man and now they're both stuck.0 -
Are they refusing to help because he is not the account holder?
Maybe if the account holder contacted them, they would be able to help?0 -
Go online to the bank website there must be a section on there about how to complain. Thanks,

Can whoever withdrew the cash provide evidence to show where the cash came from originally?0 -
