Orange itemised bills

Hi all

I recently realised Orange have been charging me since Nov 09 for receicing a monthly statement and calling it an itemised bill. When i first took out my contract in 2008 i was told that to view itemised bills online was free - so thats what i did, but that they would send a summary statement to me monthly. I was fine with this as the summary statement meant nothing to me.

Having complained to Orange CS they tell me that because i didnt 'opt out' of the charges when they started making them i have no recourse. I never asked for the monthly statements and I was never charged for them when i took out the contract in 2008.

They wont refund the £20 so far charged (small amount but its the principle). In effect they can add anythign to my bill without my agreement and unless i OPT OUT its final.

This surely cant be legal ?? Help please

I asked to cancel my contract because of this horrendous policy and they said that i would have to buy it out and tough luck.

From memory it tells you on each months bill that you are being charged for it - doesn't it?

    I'm sure that's why I changed to on-line a while back.

They'll only refund the last 3 months at the most, on the grounds that you should be checking your bills monthly and tell them if their wrong.

There was a message on the bill stating that summary bills would be chargeable, and to call customer services to opt out of receiving a printed bill in the post. Check back through your bills, you will probably find the one with that message on it
