Was it really such a bargain in the first place?
Display TV might have been switched on continually for several hours a day and for how long. Messed about with by who knows how many people(and kids!!). This TV is really second hand. Would you have paid this amount if it was advertised in the classified ads?
You may find that you can get the same TV new for the same or less even if you shop around especially online.0 -

They have to by law put you in the same position or better than when you bought the item, so a refund is entirely fair. The fact it was a bargain has no bearing on this what so ever.
Im sure if you got a refund you could get a similar TV on ebay for the same price and with the knowledge it's probably been cared for more.
Not entirely correct. You are entitled to be put in the same position as you would have been in had the contract been performed correctly.
Therefore, in theory, you could purchase the same TV (in the same condition, etc) elsewhere and, if more expensive, claim the difference. However, this would be subject to a general duty to mitigate loss.0
