I have an Acer Aspire 5622 WMLMi that is about four months old and the power supply keeps cutting out. If the laptop is on, it will last about 5 seconds and if it is not (and it's just charging the battery) it will last 5 to 10 minutes. I want to proove that it is the power supply but the ones I can lay my hands on are different voltages.

The one that comes with the laptop is 19V 4.74A. If it is the power supply then I want to send that back only, but I await to see if Acer get funny about doing that, as is SMC's experience.

I had a reply from the place Acer told me to contact, they have quoted me a reasonable price for a cable and adapter so I will probably go ahead and order from them.

Before you do, you could try advertising on your local Freecycle group. You might be lucky enough to come across someone with a dead Acer who still has the cables in the back of the cupboard.

https://www.freecycle.org You join a local network of people who offer and receive each other's unwanted iems- for free. People often request and offer computer stuff. It's worth joining and asking - it's often only when someone requests something obscure that it triggers another person to give away a piece of rubbish that they previosly thought was 'useless'....
