Thanks jen, that's a really interesting reply. When I was a student I worked in retail. I would have seen my job as hanging the clothes and tidying them, stacking shelves and being polite to customers who approached me but I never saw it as my job to actively sell the clothes.
When I do normal shopping (not mystery shopping) I almost always prefer not to be approached. I'll ask for help if I want it.
I like to point out good things on my reports in the hope that it might go back to the staff member and brighten up their day but I feel a bit mean sometimes that I'm checking up on people.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Oh and Mystery shopping isn't always about pointing out the bad... we do point out the GOOD as well...
This absolutely, I did an absolutley fantastic shop today, the girl was just brilliant, I couldn't praise her highly enough, I walked out of the shop feeling brilliant. And I made sure I put all this in my report, and I hope she gets the recognition for it.
Having spent many years in the past working in retail I would say mystery shoppers only make your job a nightmare if you are not doing it properly. It does explain some of the daft questions I got asked though.0 -
everytime i get fantastic service it is always in a shop that dont wear badges and it always annoys me that they probably wont know who i mean! its a shame that they prob wont know who it was. the descriptions for most co's (except retail maxim) have to be so pc you cant really identify anyone. i did ab abai young store and all 4 mos had the same height, approx age and hair style!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

do you not have to upload reciept images or anythingThere doesn't seem to be anywhere to do it :S
thanks!
I had the same thing happen to me. I think they just take it from the receipt details you enter. I left a question unanswered thinking I could complete at the end and the damn thing wouldn't let me go back! I emailed them re the receipt so will let you know if I get anything back.In the airport, will see you all in 2 weeks! Morning Folks - Had a busy old day yesterday. Two closed shops, RE and GAP, grrrrrrr.Has anyone thought about writing a book about the mystery shopping adventures!!! Happy Monday everyone
A fight broke out in the pub I was shopping.
An appliance purchase where they tried to move it to look for the booklet to answer my question and the appliance fell to the floor and got damaged.
My new whizzy phone app stop watch is working a treat. I bent over and dropped my phone, the phone chap picked it up for me. Talk about heart in mouth! Thankfully screen was locked so he didn't see it!
I entered the wrong GAP assignment , grrrrrrrr.

See but its not about shoving things in peoples faces but sometimes making sure displays are correct telling a customer that shirt looks good on them or "Did you know those are 2 for 20.00" that is actively selling and you probably did it just didn't realize.

See there are people like that but for me... Im partially colour blind and I HATE asking for help... it embarasses me. So when im OFFERED help im more likely to buy something and accept the help because it was offered and I didn't have to seek.

You are doing exactly that checking up on them. Owners pay a lot of money for their franchises and there is nothing worse then the parent company pulling out the name of the store because the staff messed it up for the owner.
Sometimes owners have multiple stores so we act as their eyes and ears for those moments we are in there. And lets face it if an owner was to come into his shop the staff put on the floor show (kinda like a Gap Burger assignment)
Hope this helps I feel very passionatly about the work we all do its something that more places should put in place.0 -

:rotfl::eek:What a day you had yesterday!
I have also downloaded a Voice recorder app and I now record all my shops - it makes filling in those "What exactly was said" questions much easier.0 -
I am having an enforced week off but I still can't resist checking all the job boards. I think I am addicted
I hope you all have a successful shopping week0 -
Well, my week is a register with every compnay week lol
Looking back some just don't reply which i think is a bit rude!!

It's hard when you do a company for the first time as you have no idea who they shop or how they work. a little fustrating lolI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

Ooops forgot to ask about ABA. I couldn't find a questionnaire to see prior to the visit, just the briefing sheet. Also when I came to do the online submission it wouldn't let me go back to check my answers. I missed some vital information out and the next thing the damn thing had sent, ggrrrr. - another email sent!0
