B&B Cash ISA

Has anybody else opened an isa with Bradford & Bingley lately. I sent my application off 2/3 weeks ago. Had an email thanking me for my application last week.

Yet the cheque still hasn't been cashed.

Just wondering if they are suffering the same delays as Abbey did when I opended an ISA there a few years back.

Thanks

I would ring them and check as I could understand big delays around April time but not really now
  • I have just opened one, by transfer from M&S. I think they may be quite busy, as it took longer than I expected to receive the e-mail to say that they had requested the funds.

I have received my confirmation today that funds were received into my new account on 21st August.

If they have sent you an e-mail to thank you for the application, I would think that everything is in hand.
  • It did take them quite a while to sort out my transfer from M&S, and then to set up my details online, but looking at the details on their website the interest should be backdated as it shows the original date that the cheque came through.

    Thanks

had a letter today saying my application cannot be processed until i send a cheque with initial deposit of at least £1000.

In other words they have lost my cheque for £3000. I think I'll look elsewhere.

Just like to warn everbody about B&B. They have lost my cheque yet say that it is near impossible to do this due to thier processing system.

Basically they are calling me a liar and wont agree to back date interest or reimburse my bank charges for having to now stop the cheque.

  • I opened mine in May and it took AGES for them to open it - they said it was because the account was so 'popular'. Now it's open it has been fine, but it annoyed me how long it took. Now I can check balance online etc and best of all interest is paid monthly which is what I wanted.

I opened a National Counties Building Society Tessa ISA at the SAME time as the B&B ISA, and NC did is soooo much quicker. Maybe consider opening one with them? They were ever so efficient, but only pay interest yearly.

That's the thing Eager, the account suits me as it's online but they want me to send in another cheque !

Can I ask why you want the interest paid monthly?
  • It took roughly around 2-3 weeks for my ISA transfer from the Halifax to B&B which I felt was pointless for a few quid extra interest that I would have received. Considering the loss of interest I was making during the transfer and the total amount I was transferring.

Anyway I had the same problem with B&B as I was concerned why my account had not been opened. I asked them a week after Halifax had closed the account and they told me they received the cheque I then followed up the call a few days later as my account had not been opened and then they tell me the funds have not been received. However, Halifax had closed the account over two weeks at that time and the cheque had been sent out by them.

So not sure who to blame. From my experience it does take a while to transfer

Same here - First Direct said the account was closed and funds sent to B&B - but B&B said they had nothing yet - and we're talking a 1-2 week interval between the 2! There was a '5th Dimension' somewhere as both companies didn't know where my money was...

    All sorted now anyway
