Vinci Civil Parking Notice

  • I have just received a 'final notice' from Vinci, offering me another 14 days to pay their iniquitous parking charge. Otherwise, the note is much the same as the previous one, with the same threats of possible third party intervention. Oh, and some of the words are scrunched up or overtyped, to the point of being illegible. Perhaps the printer is too overworked with repeat notices and is dying of shame. Rest in pieces.

Anyone else been a lucky recipient? I'd be interested to know.

Meanwhile, I am intent, as the great 1950's comedian Gerard Hoffnung once said, on "keeping the upper lip stiff". It's Battle of Britain Anniversary, after all.

I told you I was old.

  • I got a final payment reminder from Vinci giving 14 days to pay today. This letter is a little strange as the last letter said if you don't pay within 28 days then they will pass to debt collecting firm and commence civil proceedings? I wonder if I will get another chaser letter??

Who knows? You may get a final final reminder, then a final final final reminder.
As long as you ignore them all it doesn't really matter.
One thing that definitely won't happen is "civil proceedings".
  • I do civil litigation for a job I even consulted a barrister and showed her the ticket and her response was "what the hell does a civil parking notice mean" just ignore it!

The parking ticket was even dated! I'll be changed cars soon and plate and house... see ya they will never find me!
  • Time has passed, and it appears the sharks have swum away and given up. Just a 'thank you' from me to all who contributed to this thread, particularly those whose confident advice turned out to be so correct - and, of course, to MSE for hosting it all.

A Merry Xmas and New year to all, and happy(er) car parking !

  • I also have not heard anything since October also. I sought a barristers opinion although she does not specialise in contract law she does knows her stuff. I emailed her parking notice which was undated and her words were "ignore it"... its only when you get council or police parking notices you pay those.

Maybe something getting in contact with Watchdog over... unless its already been on Watchdog and I missed that episode!!

You did miss a few Watchdog episodes in 2010 about PPC fake parking tickets. One said 'ignore, make them into paper aeroplanes', another showed how scandalous it was that these fake PCNs are made to look like real Council PCNs, with chequered borders and scales of justice on their headed notepaper etc.

Here's our thread giving the link to the paper aeroplane Watchdog programme (in blue under the PPCs subtitle). Well worth clicking and watching the Solicitor Tim Cary explain the scam to Anne Robinson:
