Surely they can't change their returns policy in respect of goods already bought? If the customer has paid for something on the basis they will be able to return it B&Q should honour it.
    Yes. I agree.

The returns policy in force at the time of purchase forms part of the purchase contract.

Maybe the following is a get-out clause for them at the end of their T&C:

We reserve the right to refuse a return or to require proof of identity

Yes, I wasn't very clear in my last post.

I have in front of me a B&Q receipt dated August 2009.
    On the front it says...
90 Days Returns Policy See Overleaf

    On the back it says...
    RETURNS POLICY
    Please Retain This receipt
We're happy when you're happy. If you are not
completely satisfied with your purchase we will happily
exchange/refund any unused items with this receipt
within 90 days (terms and conditions apply).
The point I was making was that if the OP's receipt says 90 days on it, then surely they have to honour that?

It been more than 90days since they switched to 45day period and it also mentions nothing about what happens if you loose your receipt. In the terms and conditions and I'm pretty sure its on the receipt at that time well "we may refuse a refund at any time.
This does not affect your statutory rights"
ie under soga you can still get a refund.
