B&Q Problem

Hi all,

I have been doing alot of DIY in our flat over the months and have been using B&Q for wallpaper etc. Today i went into B&Q to buy some more paint and to also try and take 4 rolls of paper back. Problem was i only had receipt for 3 rolls and no receipt for the other so i asked could i have a creidt note for the 4 rolls and i was told this is not allowed even that i purchased them in the last few months and they are still sealed and no damaged in anyway.

We was told that B&Q have changed the refund and credit policy a few months back and are not allowed to give any refunds or credits over 45 days now.

Can anyone advise if B&Q are allowed to do this as its a B&Q Braded product so i cannot see why they cant issue a credit or a refund for the items

Yes, they can do it. Being able to take things back because you bought too much, or change your mind , isn't a legal right. It's just good customer service, and B&Q have decided not to offer it.
    import this

If you have the receipt for three rolls, what are the refund terms on the back of this receipt?

Surely those were the terms that you agreed to at the time of purchase.

I would not think that they could change those terms, but I am sure someone else will be able to confirm that.

Yeap they changed there rules and on the back of receipt it does mention that you are require to cheap your receipt to get your refund.

There also been a thing of there about them be able to refuse a refund regardless.

You have no right to return unwanted good to a shop only faulty.

Yes, I wasn't very clear in my last post.

I have in front of me a B&Q receipt dated August 2009.
    On the front it says...
90 Days Returns Policy See Overleaf

    On the back it says...
    RETURNS POLICY
    Please Retain This receipt
We're happy when you're happy. If you are not
completely satisfied with your purchase we will happily
exchange/refund any unused items with this receipt
within 90 days (terms and conditions apply).
The point I was making was that if the OP's receipt says 90 days on it, then surely they have to honour that?

I would take them back to a diff store say you bought them last week and have lost your receipt. I would be very suprised if they didn't just give you credit. I took something back to B&Q the other day with no receipt and they gave me credit.

Unfortunately they can change their returns policy. M & S have just done it as well.

Surely they can't change their returns policy in respect of goods already bought? If the customer has paid for something on the basis they will be able to return it B&Q should honour it.

    I don't think they can.
