i was wondering if there are some techy people on this forum who know cars and phones too. i have a nissan primera with a colour screen / satnav etc (with old maps). is it possible to jig something like this on the video above and plug in a wire to the GVIF adapter if the nissan primera comes with such an adaptor and to use that to hook it up to the microusb port of the htc desire and get the same functionality???? i would be willing to travel for a couple of hours around the uk if i could get it to work well like on this video! any pointers please.
would you want such facilities to be able to plug in your phone to the screens of you cars and to use the phones features on the car screen instead? that way you could always use the features you want to use instead of some old maps that come with the car.

YesApple have this feature now on iPods iPhones or iPads, can't remember which, and BMW will be the first to get a car to market to use the features.0

I have a doubledin satnav unit which has RCA input for a reversing camera, would this work just connecting a microusb to rsb cable? presumably it would be just the same as using a tv out cable?
Shame you can't use the touch screen on the car!I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yesi have a factory installed reversing camera with sat nav but the sat nav maps are old and doesnt have postcode feature so i use my google navigation on htc desire , before i used my tomtom for postcode navigation.
i was just interested in this option as i found google navigation better except for the lack of active speed camera warnings. getting the google nav out of the phone and on to the cars bigger colour screen and getting the audio on the cars speakers would be a bonus worth the trouble and i can always disconnect the cable from the desire and still use the rest of the stuff on the car screen if needed, provided i get a place where they can install such a cable for me to fit the microusb. have to enquire next time i go for servicing my car.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
