Oooh good thinking...hadn't thought about that. Perhaps we can do it straight after the speeches - then we can go and greet our evening guests!!

    Thanks again

I'm less recently married than you, (25yrs +, to be truthful) and I hope you don't mind me passing on a thought - no judgement or comment is intended. Our wedding was a very simple affair, so your thread has put me in mind of my amazement at watching my brother and his fiancee planning their wedding - church; marquee, three-course sit down meal, favours (Me: 'Favours? What? You want mum to make lots of little muslin bags and put sugared almonds in them?') etc etc.

When it had all been in the planning for about a year and it got to the point that I was truly, truly amazed at all the planning and planning and planning I said to him

'What will you talk about once you're married?'

Quick as a flash the answer came back

    'The wedding'

    ... but of course :)
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

Sorry guys, I hadn't noticed some replies on here. :)

shell - Hubby used a local independent tailor. His hire prices were similar to Moss etc, but the boys had a couple of fittings and he does alterations on hire suits. We had a 5'4 best man and a 6'4 groomsman so going to the high street wasn't really going to work!

    angel69 - sorry but we didn't have a videographer so I can't help there. :o
  • Hi Sarah, Congratus. we got married in April but still sorting out some bits due to being busy with work and decorating my flat etc etc.
My question is on Wedding photos - did you get mainly large ones printed or a selection/mixture ? We got ours on a disc so getting them printed ourselves. I have printed about 100 7 by 5 inches to show people and will choose some bigger ones to go in the wedding albums. Just wondered how many people usually get. Did you print some to give to BMs or other guests ?

    Thanks jj:beer::beer:

I'm not used to people saying Mrs Allen yet (and I probably need to do something about my username on here!).

That is scary - I will become a Mrs Allen too! Sorry for the random point but finding it scary to get used to changing my name!

Hey, our photographer shoots on film rather than digital. She provided all the photos as 7.5 x 5 inch prints - we had a box of about 450 of them!!

I picked out about 80 to go into our three albums (I have three formal wedding photo albums; one is pre ceremony, one is ceremony and drinks, one is dinner and evening). There were about 250 more that I liked, so I got little cheap photo albums and put those in there in order. So you have our nice albums that run through the day, then 7 little albums that run through it again. :rotfl:

Despite this, we still had loads left over so gave an album full of photos to each set of parents. Where the photographer had taken several of the same grouping for the formal photos, we had plenty of spares to dish out which was good.

I wanted to include photos in peoples' thank you cards. These were all 6x4. There was a group photo of everyone at the wedding. Everyone got a copy of that, and then a nice picture of themselves. So, where we had a good photo, a couple might get the group shot and a shot of the two of them which I thought would be nice for them. For these, I didn't want to pay the photographers' reprint price of £4 per 6x4 so I have to confess I scanned the photos and had them printed, as it would have cost hundreds to do otherwise.

Finally, we're getting some enlargements done now. I put a note in all the thank you cards with a link to the online gallery and telling people to contact us if they wanted any prints. No-one has except our parents. They're paying for these re-prints themselves. Hubby and I are having various ones. We're having a huge print of the one below; it's lovely because it can go on the wall without being an in-your-face wedding photo. From a distance it's a nice country scene; up close we're in the photo chatting to people. :)

Then we're getting various other reprints to frame, and our parents each picked a few to do the same with. Because we had so many prints and could give them lots, they didn't need to order many.

I did some extra 6x4's in the thank you cards for my BMs; gave them about 5 each. One of my BMs is a scientist and moved to Australia a week after the wedding to do field research in the outback. I posted it to her there as a surprise and she likes having some photos on the wall of her campervan. :)

It's weird being Mrs. Allen; still doesn't sound like my name when people say it. :rotfl:
