Got married a month ago - anyone got any questions?

I got married on 11th June and had the most amazing day! I'm struggling to let go of wedding stuff, I miss all the planning and so on. So, while I'm still in this mourning phase and incapable of leaving the wedding forums :rotfl:, if anyone has any questions or little things they're worrying about and wants to know what happened, how something worked etc, just shout. Only got my own experience to go on but it might help. And if there's any other recent brides around here who are feeling the same then feel free to jump in too. :)

:j I was just thinking of you - where did you post the gratuitous hair pic? It was a lovely hair style, or do you know what kind of hair style it was?

    Hey lexxi,

I can't remember where I posted the pics. I loved my hair. :D I don't know what it's called, or if it has a name. To describe, the hairdresser put it in a ponytail in the middle of the back of head and tonged it all, then pinned the curls out so they covered the back of my head. At the front, the bit in front of the tiara swept round to one side. He kept a section just behind the tiara out of the ponytail and back-combed it (so retro!!) for height and curled the ends of that too.

I never wanted an updo originally as I never wear my hair up but I was really pleased with it.

You can see it best in the pics from the trial which are here:

On the day my veil tucked in behind the high bit behind the tiara:

    Hello, what a lovely thread!

I'm after help with table plans please, where did you get yours from if you had one?

We had a table plan. I actually made ours. I bought a big square frame from a shop in Chelmsford called The Art Shop for £18 (I'm not sure if they're a chain, can't find a website). Inside the frame I covered the piece of paper you get inside it with sheets of our wedding stationary ivory card (which had come from Paper Mill), then had burgundy rectangles, with an ivory rectangle on top of each listing the names.

Ours was relatively plain. Ivory and burgundy was our colour scheme and the venue had black and gold curtains etc so the gold frame tied in.

I've seen some gorgeous table plans on the DIY threads on the youandyourwedding forums where people get canvasses from art shops to use as a base, and decorate with ribbon etc. There's loads of inspiration around online if you want to do something more creative. :)

Thank you, I've added the link to my faves so when I find a hairdresser I'll have an example!

Love the invites, ours are going to be similar as soon as I can get paper in the right colour and thin enough to go through the printer!!

A couple of minor, random tips that just came to me:

    1) If you're having a civil ceremony, you have to see the registrar before the ceremony. They just confirm your personal details, and talk you through what's going to happen. The registrar was saying how they'd do the welcome, then X, Y, Z, vows, rings, declare this, say that etc. I didn't take ANY of this in. I'd been really relaxed and just happy all morning but I did get nervous right before show time. It doesn't matter - don't panic if you're not absorbing what he's saying, the ceremony is really easy to follow and they tell you exactly what to say and when. :D

    2) The morning after we opened our cards, a lot of which had B&Q vouchers in. We made two piles of cards and vouchers, and fortunately hubby had the presence of mind to start writing on the vouchers who they had come from. :D If we hadn't have done that, we wouldn't have known who to thank for B&Q vouchers in the thank you cards.

    3) At the end of the ceremony, they give you your marriage certificate. It's all so exciting and emotional you'll promptly forget all about it lol. We'd asked hubby's parents before-hand to look after it so we gave it to them and it neatly disappeared until the next day when we picked it up. Have someone prepared to look after the paperwork!

You'll be surprised - our ivory paper was actually card which was reasonably sturdy. Our inkjet handled it fine. :)

And thanks! For the thank you cards I made them exactly the same, with this rubber stamp on the front in place of the champagne glasses, and a blank piece of ivory card inside to write a thank you message on:

I have card but it wont go through! Just ordered some paper instead so I'll see what that looks like, otherwise will try everyone elses printers. That stamp is lovely, the Mr & Mrs one is too, or champagne glasses are 'clinking' and I've done it with the heat embossing stuff so going to try and find something simpler for the thank yous!!

Ours were a bit different to the norm as our photographer used film instead of digital.

We met up with the photographer just under three weeks after the wedding (during the week after we got back from honeymoon) and she gave us a box with a print of every photo (around 450). :)

She also put low-res versions on a website so that family could look to choose any they wanted printed. I'm happily picking out a selection from the prints to go in our albums, and we'll probably get two or three enlarged by her to frame.

I've seen some nightmare stories on other forums of people waiting months - it never occurred to me before the wedding that it could ever be an issue. I didn't ask our photographer how long it would take - if I did it again I definitely would! Luckily ours was very quick. :)
