Hi Ellieseleven
Hope that you had nice Christmas, have a good New Year and that the car situation is not too stressful or expensive.DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

Thanks ChrisBlue - Happy New Year to You Too:beer:
My car passed it's MOT - Phew!!!!:o I just hope now that it's ok for a little while. The garage did say that I will need two new tyres on the back but I can wait for a few weeks:o
This week I have spent a total of £37.93 on groceries as part of the grocery challenge which is fantastic for us:)
I did a stocktake and was surprised just how much food we have in the cupboards, then I made a list and stuck to it (I was tempted to stray but had a word with myself and carried on)
I've set a meal plan for the week and take sandwiches to work (which I do already) so with a bit of luck I should also have several NSD's as well.
I'm quite enjoying this challenge on the quiet and feel upbeat about coming in under our target. These early months of the year are the worst for my hubbies business as he gets no work at all so we really have to tighten our belts but in a strange way I don't feel gloomy about doing this challenge and normally I'm so depressed by the lack of money at this time of year it's unbearable:o
Anyway, onwards and upwards - not feeling too stressed and when I look at the dent we've made in our total debt figure, it makes it all worthwhile;)
Take care

Today I feel like I am dragging a great lump of rock around with me, that is continuously pulling me back and stopping me from what I am trying to do... aka my husband!
He is pulling his face and putting a terrible atmosphere on the place - when I ask what is wrong, he says "Nothing" but I suspect it is because we have very little money this month and I am struggling to buy groceries and he can't have a drink:mad::mad:
His work is very seasonal and he hasn't brought in any money for 10 weeks now. He decided that he would try to get a job but unless one comes knocking on the front door, that isn't going to happen:mad::mad::mad:
After I have paid all the bills, DMP etc. we have about £300 for the month and I am doing my best to stretch the money that we have as far as it will go but it really does mean tightening our belts. I've not done bad with the grocery challenge and I've had 5 NSD's this month, I've taken sandwiches to work and spent nothing during the week so I can't cut back any further but he carries on smoking and drinking and sitting around all day and I am now very much at the end of my tether!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I feel trapped in a corner as I can't leave because I feel so responsible for him... he would have nowhere to live, no money etc. etc. and I just can't do that to him but I'm sure that is what he is relying on:mad::mad::mad::mad:
I am so angry and upset at the moment and just have to vent my feelings on here otherwise I am likely to explode and just p%$$ off:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Hi, I've just sat and read your diary.. You're doing so well I really hope that your OH gets of his bottom and finds himself a job - you need some help from him, especially if he's smoking and drinking the money your bringing in.
Good luck on your journey xProud to be dealing with my debts :T

Thank you MM, he really does annoy me at times!
I've kept out of his way as I am ready to explode but on the plus side I spent the afternoon in the kitchen batch cooking, so have sorted out much of the food for the coming week.Debt Free 1st March 2017

Happier today, ended up having a blazing row with OH (it's been coming for weeks). We've cleared the air and said how we both feel. OH feels useless and let's it get him down, so drinks as a consequence.
I get annoyed because I think he's not bothered and feel as though I'm doing everything on my own
Anyway, we are going to try working together and see if we can sort things out... We'll see!Debt Free 1st March 2017

Doing quite well on the grocery challenge this month, I set a budget of £240 for January and so far have spent a little over £140 and I've managed 10 NSD's - we have everything that we need and haven't gone without anything so it just goes to show how much we have overspent in the past.
On the downside, I am working away this week so have had to borrow some money from my parents. I hate asking them but I have no emergency fund at the moment because I have had to use it for my car and normally I use part of my emergency fund for expenses - at least I get any expenses backDebt Free 1st March 2017
