Before you go down the route of chkdsk etc, I'd like to suggest troubleshooting it first.
If it's rebooting it could be something like a faulty IDE / SATA controller or bad graphics chipset, hell it could even just be shorting out on the casing
I'd recommend unplugging every single cable and starting it up with only the RAM, CPU, CPU Fan connected and using onboard VGA (if it has one)
You need to know where the problem lies first.
prob easier to see if it will boot into safe mode before pulling it to bits dont you think0 -
It wont boot to safe mode, When I tried F8 (before posting to this board), none of the options there would boot, so I can't get into any sort of diagnostic. I know a bit about PC's, but I don't know what you mean by hashes.
I've tried Windows 7 and when back to XP, I really didn't like it.
I did read that it could be the power supply, but I as off the opinion that it would be easier to try to Windows repair first. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
It might help you to actually answer the questions put to you....or it is taking you that long to check?

Would you like me to post you a disc? Whilst you are pondering...does your PC get as far as checking the memory before re-booting? At what stage does it re-boot?0
-
I think its after checking memory, i select which windows to boot 2, it seems as though its going to boot but then restarts, if it wasn't set to reboot it would blue screen. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0
