Barclays online banking registration

Ok, so my Barclays debit card arrived this morning and I registered for online banking and I've got my 12 digit ID code. Will the 5 digit security code have been automatically ordered? As it is asking me for it on the next page. If I click on forgot code it offers to send me a reminder but if one has been generated and will be in the post soon I need not bother.

Nowhere does it say "thank you for registering for online banking, your new code will be in the post blah blah."

Also, my card seems to have a new design (different to anything I can see on Google) and it doesn't say "connect" on it. I'll try posting a pic up here when I get in from work tonight.

You'll get it in the post in about 4 days, look at the registration section of the banking demo.

It will arrive, and later no doubt you'll get the machine to authorise your own payments and all the other stuff - Barclays is certainly the most complicated and un-user friendly of the online accounts I have, or have had!

Ok, here is the card I got today. I note that it begins 4658 so I think that means it is a full authorisation card (so no Tesco Pay@Pump with this card) which I guess is why it doesn't carry the word "Connect" on the front (can anyone confirm if that is correct?) despite this account being the Barclays Bank Account (not the Barclays Cash Card Account)

I have a Barclays Cash Card account, and it starts with 4658, with the word 'Connect' on the top righth and corner. I also got a Barclays Bank Account with a card starting with 4659. The non-full authorisation card starts with 4659, which includes cheque guarantee. I think they might not give you the card, as all banks are phasing out the cheque guarantee function.

I don't think it matters when there is no 'Connect' on the card. It reads a Visa debit/delta anyway.

The design of the card is nice by the way. :)

I think the Barclays full auth card works at pay at the pump, its only RBS/Natwest and Co-Op that doesn't

As for it saying "Connect". That looks like a new card design you have, the older one is a lighter blue almost like the co-op card, and the seem to have removed references to the "connect debit card" on their website and are just calling it a debit card now.

Yeah, I was never expecting a CGC as there is no point in banks issuing them anymore.

My A&L accounts start 4659 which is the "proper" Visa Debit, but Barclays is 4658 which was ever so slightly disappointing but not for any valid reason.

At the end of the day, I'm just happy I got the account with them as it's the bank I always wanted to have an account with and up til now never been able to have. I've used their services over the years (paying bills, helping my parents out because they bank with them etc etc) and have always found them to be the best for their customer service in branch.

My credit rating isn't perfect but improving all the time, so I guess my score was high enough to get the account but not high enough yet for anything "credity". My last default falls off in exactly 5 weeks time and I'm now 6 months without a late payment on any of my accounts (was only my mobile contract I had trouble with anyway).

I don't want an overdraft or a loan, I just want to get my hands on a Prime credit card and ditch Vanquis, then I'll be happy and go to back to sleep :D

Oh and yes, the new card design is rather snazzy. :j

What I might do is once money starts going into the account (this coming Friday if Payroll pull their finger out and pay my money into it) is give it a try at the local Tesco's petrol station.

It's the only place I use that I could conceivably run into problems with a full auth card. I don't use trains and if I did I'd buy a ticket from the station, not on the train.

I'll report back in a week or two with this one.

You mean the contactless payment symbol that looks like ))) ?

This option is subject to status and I believe I don't qualify for it at this present time. My OH got a Barclaycard Initial card the other day and it has contactless technology on it.

I'm not fussed about it as where we live there is nowhere that currently takes contactless payments.
