Got both but never really use Gmail, originally didn't switch things over to gmail as too many people/companies have my hotmail address (had it since 1998). But now have upgraded Hotmail to Windows Live Mail Beta and it's way better than gmail (IMHO of course!), more like using a proper email client than webmail. Sadly at work I have to use Lotus Notes which is just plain horrible (but that's a completely different story!). Oh and didn't Gmail stop requiring invites yonks ago!?0

TWO WORDS - SPAM FILTER
Gmail is excellent for this.
Plus, the way it groups emails is really useful although I did take a while getting used to it. Gmail groups all emails into conversations so for example if you sent one email out to 12 mates it would group all the replies together and call it 'one conversation'. (Very useful when I was trying to organise a mass night out to the comedy - I had about 20 replies)
It's also useful if you do lots of back and forth emailing with one person as the bunching together of emails means that your inbox is kept quite minimal.
And the bunching is also useful when you need to track back to past emails in your conversation to find out what was said or to check dates etc.
Go with Gmail and never look back! Plus it's nice not being with the Hotmail Mainstream!0 -

What so instead you'll line the pockets of a company that analyses your emails, and stores details of what you browse and search? But not line the pockets of the biggest philanthropist in the world, and someone who's company has revolutionised the IT industry.
Both companies are fine, and Microsoft are certainly much better than they have been, especially in the development community.
I do prefer Gmail though of the two. Ideally I'll soon be switching to my own IMAP account."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

When was gmail introduced? I only recently heard about it
I find gmail better.
I use the 2Gb+ of storage to store my personal files using a program called RoamDrive
Here's a link
It also supports Hotmail and MSN0
