Con is probably too strong a word. It depends if you want something now and don;t have the cash to pay for it.
Generally speaking you can get the same phone on a similar tarrif and buy the freebee for the cost of the "deal". The freebie has to be paid for somewhere and it's usually because you have to pay for the phone and don't get any cashback.
Sometimes on older phones they want to clear it can be a better deal but usually it's not.
For example - Buymobilephones .net
HTC Desire with a "free" Xbox 360 Took T-mobile as it was the first on the lsit but Orange hold about the same cost wise.
£35 PCM Contract for 24 months - Phone is £109 900 Minutes - unlimited texts- 3GB Data Total cost over the contract £949
Without the Xbox Phone is free, you get £110 cashback and 900 minutes unlimited text - 3gb data Total Cost £730
So the "free" Xbox is costing £109 plus the "loss" of the £110 you don't get as a cashback, Given the new Xbox is £199 your actually paying £20 more than buying without the Freebie.
If you want the Freebee NOW and you are willing to think of it as a monthly payment plan it's OK as a deal, but usually better going without the deal..0 -
I wouldn't say there are any 'cons' either, maybe that you sometimes have to wait a while to get your free gift, it doesnt always put up with the phone/contract
I got £190 cashback with my last contract which was £20 per month, ment to be £30 but because i bought online I got a £10 discount on every month of my contract0
