I sent mine off as soon as the date was announced but haven't received mine yet. Was it worth the wait?
It seems that it has been deliberately designed not to take ordinary batteries so you have to fork out for the (pricey) rechargeable pack to use it as a portable. The same design genius also forgot to put in a headphone socket apparently! No wonder they want to get shot of them.
I already have a charger that charges all the different battery's right upto 9v, so not a problem to me, I had to send off £6.70p, I don't use a headphones and its just for my bedroom.
BTW I love the D Mail, and its got over 2 mil circulation and a readership of over 4 mil0 -

The Sun can boast an even bigger circulation/readership - but that dosn't make either of them good papers.0 -

I used to read the Financial Times and the The Times when I was in business but it did not make me a better person, and reading the D Mail does not make you a worse person.0 -

Many people would dispute that!
Its venomous, poisonous mix of half-truths and innuendo has damaged large numbers of its readers, who are daft and gullible enough to believe what it says. My dear mother, sadly, is one of them!0 -
And of course, The Sun printing so much truth makes you a better person because its got the biggest circulation?;)0

The Government comes to mind with that statement, look if you are gullible it don't help what paper you read.0 -

I spoke to Daily Mail CS today and they directed me to the correct people to ask about delivery etc.
Both mine and my brother's were "despatched" yesterday - apparently this may mean they are still in the warehouse but are awaiting collection by the couriers (probably DHL)
I'm told I should definitely receive it within 7 to 10 days

Given it's size 50% of it would have to be NiMh cells to have the same playing duration.
A review site commenting on the cost of the ChargePak did compare it with Robert's "budget" offerings that use AAs, BUT did say "however Pure's version does at least stop you being weighed down with batteries in your pocket"
I already have plans to use an alternative Lithium-Ion battery - not quite as "big" (3600mAh) as the ChargePak (4200mAh) but at under £5 I'll cope with 17 hours from a charge instead of 20.
Headphone Socket ?
As soon as mine arrives it will have one in about 5 minutes at a cost of 20p :rotfl:

Any chance you could share the source of these £5 batteries (and 20p headphone sockets!)?
Cheers,

I got my Radio last week, love it, but it seems that the battery case is designed for a special pack, or am I wrong here.0
