why enter the comp, if you didnt want the prize....unless you wanted to resell it on, hmm not very moral

It's their prize and theirs to do with as they wish - I enter lots of competitions and keep 99% of my prizes but sell the ones I don't - reasons being anything from winning a runner up prize and really only wanting the main prize to finding out they are too big or wrong size and then there's the not having any money reason.

In response to OP it's a difficult one as you worry about getting ripped off with ebay fees and with private ads there's the strangers coming to your door - congratulations on the win BTW!

Maybe he did want it when he entered the comp, and when it arrived disscovered it was too big. It's not very fare to comment on his morals is it?

Sod morals if they'd rather want/need the cash then they won it so they can do as they wish with it. It's still a prize albeit exchanged for cash.
I sell any prizes i don't need because i'm much more in need of the cash. Who can honestly say they NEED a 50" tv!

Op i'd stick it on ebay (cash on collection only) but ensure you say it was an unwanted prize or it will look dodgy.

Why shouldn't the OP sell it on? It was a fair win - she can spend the money to buy something she needs and the purchaser will get a bargain too. Hardly heroin dealing is it?

MSE used to be a nice, helpful place but now, with people who just want to make themselves feel better by putting others down, its becoming a place to avoid when you need help.
Its the OP's property and he/she can do what ever he/she wants with it.
I don't understand how on earth its a problem if he/she decide to sell it on.
Thanks to every one who offered helpful advice to the OP :)

Threads like this always amaze me, someone asks for help and suddenly posters who rarely post in the ebay section all pop up offering criticism, you really get the impression some people scan the forums looking for someone to have a go at.

It's the electronic form of kicking the dog, they have a bad day and want to take it out on a complete stranger online to make themselves feel better.
