I phoned around quite a few companies this year and Co-op Travel were the best for me. Not only did they offer the best price, they also offered the best level of on board credit and their customer service was excellent.

Also they didn't ask for reams of information for their database before they gave you a quote.

I use www.smartcruiser.co.uk web site to get the cruise prices, which is very easy and you can get all the prices for all the different cabins without talking to anybody.
Once you have narrowed down your final choice, then shop-around, there are so many to choose from. Some people suggest using a USA travel agent for a better deal. That is no longer the case but if you want to try use www.cruisecomplete.com
The best deal for me this year was with the Co-op (The Cruise Specialists)

Holland America is this year's choice, more relaxing with better food, although I hate the Smoking Policy of all Cruise Lines. Looking forward to when smoking will be BANNED!!!
  • Definitely book on internet, cruise brochures always much more expensive. I have booked with Cruise.co.uk in the past very good service. Also have done lots of transatlantic cruises which were ideal for us as we wanted some rest days, not sure about a twelve year old although there are always clubs etc for them. Aldson I thought the Caribbean islands were all the same, not so, avoid the Mexican ones ugh! Med OK up till about September but getting colder after that. Cruise companies on web will send emails I get loads every week. Gills always comes up good so does Smartcruise. Happy hunting!!

    Hi thanks for the replies.

Ok called 5 different companys and got hugely varying prices! Cant think off the top of my head onad not infront of me but the co we booked our first cruise came up best and they were the nicest/easiest to deal with on the phone..Gills funnily enough were the worst and maybe he was having a bad day but didnt seem to have a clue..bit off putting i had to keep repeating things!

So we have one on hold and are hoping to book tom for the Med (hadnt checked weather Florence so thanks for that! although done our fare share of hot holidays so dont mind so long as i know to pack accordingly!)
Got a great price, onboard credit, free parking and a good cabin so all good..thanks guys..just need ot book now so as to stop me looking all the time!
