Update as promised: turns out my girlfriend is allergic to white gold. Grrr...
Anyway, she took them into a local jewellers who said they would be happy to sell them in the window for a 10% cut, they valued them at £400 second hand, which is substantially more than I paid for them.
So yeah, this site is legit.0 -
hmm...
Here are some other reviews I found:

Seems like mostly positive to me...0 -
We took 3 hours off work to visit the show room, tried on numerous rings and made an expensive order of £3000. After 3 weeks the ring arrived by post, NOT pick up from the showroom. They are probably worried that I won't collect the ring when I see it. The ring was half the size than the one we tried one - diamond was 2mm not 4mm - we are not stupid we can measure them! What a waste of time... We will return and get a refund. Hopefully the showroom won't close down and do a runner with our money!0

There are many online portal which sell diamond and other jewelry items over the internet. but before making any purchase, people should know about the site from where they are going to buy their jewelry.
First just read the reviews and collect some information related to the site and then after do the dealing with them.0 -
I am in the process of purchasing an engagement ring for my girlfriend and have been in contact with the Diamond Factory. Like most people I found this company on line and was attracted by what seems like very good prices for the products they are advertising.
My budget is £3000 - £3500.
For this price I found a great looking platinum solitare diamond ring.
The grading of the diamond for £3250 is as follows:
1 carat diamond
G colour
VS2 clarity
No details of the cut
However, this is where the problem starts to become apparent. This diamond is only graded by a gemologist who is employed by the Diamond Factory themselves. There is an obvious problem here and when I emailed the Diamond Factory regarding this they admitted in their response that the diamond would likely to be downgraded to either SI1, SI2 and possibly I1 if graded by an independent gemologist through the GIA.
In order to get that diamond with a GIA certificate the Diamond Factory price increases from £3250 to almost £4650, an increase of almost 50% for a process that costs just a fraction of this amount. It is also notable that if you buy a high end diamond from the Diamond Factory ie 1 carat diamond, IF clarity, D in colour there is no price difference at all between a DF certificate and GIA certificate. Why is this? Probably because they cannot give such a diamond a higher grading. This obviously set the alarm bells ringing.
I then enquired if I bought the ring from them and had it independently graded by the GIA myself would they refund me the difference in price if the diamond was downgraded by the GIA? The Diamond Factory not only said that they would not refund the difference but as the diamond would have to be taken out of the ring to grade it they would not offer any refund at all.
It is also worth noting that the Diamond Factory will not mount a diamond that you own to one of their rings.
When you take into consideration all of these factors I believe that the Diamond Factory gemologist is deliberately over grading their diamonds or at least is under pressure to do so.
I appreciate what some of the other posters have said regarding getting their jewellery valued by an independent jeweller, however, this is another ambiguous system. A jeweller cannot accurately value or grade the stone without removing it. They are simply valuing it by what the certificate indicates. This system if so ambiguous most jewellers wont even charge you for it. Rather than ask the independent jeweller to value your item, ask them if they would buy it off you and how much they would be prepared to buy it for? The answer would be completely different and most jewellers wouldn't even be interested in your jewellery.
Ultimately, if you accept that the diamond you are purchasing is a grade or two lower than it is certified as then there no savings and the Diamond Factory is no cheaper than any of the other internet jewellers and they again if you accept this then the Diamond Factory are conducting themselves in a disingenuous manner, taking advantage of most of our lack of expertise on the subject.1 -
So if Diamond Factory is to be dealt with sceptically which are the better retailers?0

Please may I re-assure everyone that a professional jewellery valuer does not value on the basis of what is said on 'certificates'. Jewellery valuers often disagree with certificates submitted with goods for valuation and, in that case, their reasons will be stated on the schedule. Valuers Assessments of diamonds (it is correct that a diamond can only be graded when it is loose) are done against bench-mark stones. Wherever possible valuers will check with the issuer that the report is genuine.
There are many fake diamond reports. Diamonds accompanied by Reports from some highly respected laboratories trade at a premium. A professional valuer will always ask to see any documents relating to the goods because they must exercise due dilligence but the final opinion on which the valuation is based is that of the valuer. Please note that these documents (often called certificates) are reports, they are not certificates for the simple reason that that they do not certify anything.0 -
I've used them and they were good0
