I am looking for facts and figures about the following games:

Batman Arkham Asylum
Res Evil 5
Killzone
Assassins Creed 2

Things like:

Cost to make, marketing/advertising, how many sold and how much profilt the game made.

I have trawled google, and although i get a lot of info, none of it tells me figures.

Anyone know where to look?

Ta!

You could try the game publishers websites. Whilst there won't be any info as such on there you could see if there is an email link, send them a question asking about the above! :)

    - its very unlikely anyone ever will tell you. If they ever did they would for different reasons tell you it was half as much or twice as much as the truth. A current single platform moderately successful game would by time it reaches POS would be a guesstimate of £20 - 25million.

Assuming its an academic question you might have some success getting figures for the % split between design / R&D / marketing / etc. GT5 is around $60 million for xample.

If they told you, they'd be in less of a position to complain about piracy. Transparency is not in their interest.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

got word back from some developers who said the info is confidential and so cannot help me frown.gif

I'm really struggling now as the end of the presentation hinged on some facts and figures frown.gif

Any other ideas? Even of you make up figures wink.gif (sensible ones!)

Does it have to be those games? you might find the indie games types would be more inclined to give you figures.

    For example: http://2dboy.com/2009/10/26/pay-what-you-want-birthday-sale-wrap-up/

games like the ones mentioned and for example Grand Theft Auto. I'm trying to show the costs as it is now a billion dollar industry. Some games take millions to produce and profit 40million plus.

But getting reliable info is tricky!

How about getting in touch with ELSPA or a similar organisation, they might be able to give you some general industry figures that are of use.

Otherwise try trawling the development press, magazines like Develop, MVC and Edge might mention ballpark figures, but obviously specific breakdowns of figures are likely to be confidential information
