  • AnnieG - I find that they put their prices up in order to make an offer sound good... it's possible (more then 50% of the time) that a few weeks after the offer ends, the price may slide down again so they can say they have cut the price!!!

This happened to so many things I buy!!! so by the summer you can start eating them again :D
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    Hi all,

Well i have spent the day looking at courses in my local area and guess what i found three computer courses which would have cost me over £1000 in fees being run in the local community centre. So i phoned up and enquired, and i have out that the courses are £44 each, BUT because i receive working tax credit i only have to pay £6.
    <snipped>
Also on Monday there is a beginners course on dressmaking at the local college form 6-9pm which OH said he'll look after the boys while i go. Guess what its free for me to attend because we earn less than £15,000 with tax credits!
    .

Sounds great, kezlou - well done on finding out about them and brilliant news that they're so cheap!! (or free for the dressmaking one!) :D:D
when we movedi in the old owner left us some lovely gifts. A massive box of sex toys complete with new batteries.

lol! A friend of mine bought here first house and found a surprise in the loft - it was covered entirely in black plastic sheeting and had a variety of toys, a blow up doll and some rope...!

Please folks, is it absolutely necessary to keep quoting other peoples posts in their entirety??:( I think (for example) flowertotsmum was quoted in full approx 6 times!!

You have to take into account there's a lot of people that might not have the computer skills to do this. I'm trying to learn how to put 2 quotes in a reply!:)

Re putting things up so they can put on special offer - this really annoys me

narabanekeater - someone else's sex toys  (I know, I dont presume you used them:)) Wonder what the rubbish men thought of you;)

Did anyone catch that prog on channel 4 this week? 'Food'
It was quite good, they cut up half a pig and went through the joints. They cooked with pig cheeks. If they are so cheap why cant you see them in the supermarket?
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Morrisons have them - around £1.29 for four in a pack.

Sounds like my old house when we moved in, masking tape over the curtains and black plastic everywhere. Even the landlord looked shocked, and that was only the first viewing and the previous tenants knew we coming! Can't imagine what else had been there

Not sure what were doing later today, were at my friends little boys birthday party. THen after that i have no idea. Going to see what tyres i need for the trike, so i can replace and clean it up for my little one. We bought it about 7 years ago and its lasted two children so far. Its very old fashioned style trike with a metal frame but its lovely to see the kids playing with it.

Just hoping the clothes are dry. It was so cold last night i had to put the heating on for the boys. Its off now though. Determined to keep the bills down.So i better get a move on and finish / put the curtains i've just made.
  • Northwest you should have seen my face. My friends about wet themselves with laughter. I had a forwarding address for her so I was going to send them on with a letter saying these are yours but in the end we threw them away.
What a lovely Saturday it looks. Its my nephews birthday so ive made him a cake and I have friends coming for tea later
Wishing you all a great Saturday

Right, I've finally got to the end, what a marathon!

Gailey, Please don't stress about little ones birthday, at a year old the only things she is interested in is being fed, being dry and having plenty of cuddles. Babies are not aware of prestigious presents and labels! I am so sorry you feel ill, my daughter is just pregnant and is having a really bad time with sickness. And yes, fridge and freezer, I had to go round to hers last weekend and clear and clean the fridge for her as she could *smell* it from the sitting room (it smelt of nothing by hte way!!) Still I scrubbed it out with some bicarb in warm water and it seems to have worked for her! And on the upside for me, I got to bring home a load of food that was coming up to date as she could not face cooking it! Poor girl, I do feel for her because I was really bad when pregnant wth her older sister. She is getting a bit worried as she is not eating much at all, if she manages to keep half a slice of toast down she is lucky, and then the midwife was banging on at her to make sure she eats something green every day. She replied she would be happy to eat ANYTHING and keep it down!

Flowertotsmum, nothing more I can add. I was lucky enough to be a SAHM when my girls were young. I went to a company *do* with my husband and was asked by one of his female collegues what I did for a living so told her I was raising my children. She LITERALLY turned her back on me and started to talk to someone more interesting! I did not have the confidence then that I do now, and was so upset, I could not even eat the meal. My husband was furious when I finally told him and I had to stop him from making a fuss. I finally realised that she was the one with the problem but unfortunately, it did destroy any confidence that I did have. Please, please don't let that happen to you.

Annie52(?) OMG, you have made me laugh out loud you minx!! Well done!

Best sign of as my lunch break is over. I will catchup again tomorrow. In the mean time, hugs and cuddles to anyone who needs them, congrats to everyone due them and as for the rest of us, keep on in there.

    xx
Like you I was asked at a meeting of my local graduates association what was my career. When I said I was a housewife, she immediately turned her back on me. I have never forgotten that and it was about 15 years ago. However I was at a lunch with same group and I ended up sitting beside the Chancellor:eek:, and he asked. When I replied-he said never to apologise for doing such an important job.

Do not know what else to call myself now as I still a jack of all trades at home---younger child is now 26 and finally left home 3 years ago.
  • I wish I could be a housewife / sahm fulltime - I think that must be the best, most rewarding, most fulfilling job in the world.
