This morning, I reserved 3 DS games on the Argos website and the total price came up to £28.03 (at that point I guessed there was a mistake but I thought it was worth a try...).However, when I went to pick up my games, it came up at £47.99 and they refused to charge me the price quoted in the email... I didn't buy the games but I am wondering whether they are allowed to do that.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, they are allowed to do that.
From their T&Cs...4.3 The price you pay is the price displayed on this website at the time we receive your order apart from the following two exceptions:
a) For products reserved online for store pick up or any other reservation service the price you pay is the price in store on the day of collection.0 -
this has happened to me twice, once only last week, both times they checked price on line and discounted product down to online price ,using a discount code something like price amend store price different to online, this was done without any hasel.speak with the store manager, after all how else are you supposed to reserve and collect if not online0

I have also had an item reduced in-store to the online price with no hassle, guess you were unlucky, but I also wouldn't have bought the item if it was the price they were charging in-store.0

Thank you for your quick answers! I spoke to the store manager and the stock manager but none of them agreed to charge me the online price... Never mind!0

Are they maybe web exclusives? You get that with quite a lot of games.
You cant order them online and have them delivered? If you look around (maybe even on MSE!) you might find a code for free delivery, theres usually one floating around somewhereYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You also imply that is was a possible pricing mistake, if so then that's why it's not being honoured!0

I have a similar problem as Celoche. I bought some pedal bins just over 2 weeks ago after reserving online the night before. The reservation price was only £14.99. When I keyed in my reservation number, I noticed that the price was £5 more. I still bought it and then emailed Argos Customer Services a couple of days later. I disputed the amount saying that in my reservation email, there was no mention of the fact in the email that Argos said it could increase the price of reserved products. Argos replied a couple of days later saying that "the price you pay is the price on store on day of collection" was both on their website and in the reservation emails. Argos also said that "store managers have the discretion to honour the price, if a copy of the reservation email is taken to store" (sic). Although I found that the statement is on their website, I emailed Argos back to say that the reservation email I received certainly did not have this statement and even copied it for their attention. I have yet to receive a reply from Argos since 2 August and will email Argos again because they obviously think they are right and can do whatever they like at the expense of customers.
I am going to take my reservation email this week to Argos along with my receipt and ask to speak to the duty manager. If I do not receive a refund, I am going to take this matter up with BBC's watchdog and or my local Trading Standards Office because I believe that what they are doing is unethical.0 -

Escalate and complain to either Sara Weller, Managing Director at sara.weller@argos.co.uk or to Terry Duddy, Chief Executive at terry.duddy@homeretailgroup.com.
Good luck and hope this helps.
With the greatest of respect sirmarcus, but this board is for the discussion and debate of consumer rights. By coming on to the board and responding to every post possible with "Contact XXX who is XXX at XXX" really kills any sort of debate and means that the board becomes redundant.
In addition to this, within each company there is a hierachy for complaints. Normally something like the following:
Sales Advisor > Team Leader > Supervisor > Manager > Area Manager > Director > Managing Director > CEO/Chairman
If you start at the bottom and escalate correctly, you have 8 chances of persuading somebody. If you escalate straight to CEO, they may disagree with you and then you have nowhere to go (as the people below the CEO won't be in a position to override any decision.
So in future can you not post the details from which ever website you get the details from, and allow an open debate which will allow the poster to get the best possible result.0 -
With the greatest of respect sirmarcus......
I hate to say it but I think you're wasting your time trying to impart intelligence or reason with SirMarcus. He's intent to continue what's he's doing and doesn't care for others opinions (he already said so in an earlier thread).
Perhaps report his posts as abuse and something might be done (......or unfortunately not).0
