Disabled parking bay ticket

The Blue badge scheme has become so abused by holders [not all before you start shouting] that it is now seen as meaningless by many people.
Here's a moral dilema for Martins email: You're in a car park that is full. You've been waiting 15 mins for a space. There are 5 empty disabled bays. You've watched people with blue badges come and go: One blokie struggled back to his transit van carrying a large microwave from Argos. Two teenagers stopped for fags and a few cans. A woman parked up, got out and sprinted past 5 other people as she was obviously in a hurry. A sarni/deli van parked up and made it's deliveries...all of them with their lovely blue badges.
Do you take of of the empty spaces or not??Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0 -

You need to get out more and spend less time surveiling tesco's car park.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I think there is fair reason to get miffed if you spend 10 mins waiting for a DA spot and Barbie Doll cones bouncing out of the store and screams off?? :T
The problem for many, me included is that I need to open the door fully to get in and out. Unfortunately the DA spots at my local store, (coop) are straight outside the doors. It's a poor design as there are frequent clashes as shoppers and DA parkers try to share the same space. Trollies into doors and verbals etc etc.
I personally look for a nearby space between 2 cars that isn't quite big enough for 2 and I use all of that.
Yes I could get a ticket I suppose, but I wouldn't pay it.;)
Take care peepsI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

But how do you know that Barbie Doll herself doesn't have a heart/lung condition, cancer or whatever, or that Barbie Doll hasn't just helped her elderly disabled mother into the store, or dropped her disabled child off with a friend/relative, or came into the store on arrival, with a disabled person but has now come out first to take the heavy shopping home?
I used to do that a lot with my late mother, leaving her happily browsing for a while or sitting in the cafe. When I returned I would obviously have to use a disabled space again if there was no passenger pick-up point, in order to collect her (she couldn't walk far and used a wheelchair sometimes). It doesn't suddenly mean the disabled bay is abused if the non-disabled driver leaves first or arrives to collect someone. Why do people judge the appearance of the DRIVER?
That's the point we are trying to make. Please stop judging people (why is it that elderly disabled people seem the keenest to 'tut' and complain when they see what they assume is a non-disabled person parked in 'their' space just because that person looks to be young & fit, never mind if that person has an invisible disability or has just dropped someone off who does have a disability?).
Sorry, just an observation but I have seen this no end of times and it makes me mad!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I recently parked on chevrons at end of disabled parking spaces and got a ticket, i paid up as i was in the wrong. Never mind the fact that had i not parked on the chevrons i couldnt get my prescription - i was in the wrong so i paid up. I thought I would take the chance and I got caught!!!
Why then dont you get to your appointment say 20 mins earlier and wait ? if there are still no spaces then use the nearest two spaces up or in a private car park park where the hell you want to providing you dont cause obstruction to anyone else.jellytastic wrote: »sorry i dont know how to do quotes!
It makes me mad when people without blue badges park in disabled spaces because they are fit enough to park further away and walk to their desired shop! If I cant park near where Im going I cant go - plain as!
It was a PCN parking ticket and I was in the wrong so I paid.
More fool you if it was a private car park !
As a non blue badge holder I will park in disabled spaces when I have my inlaws in my car who both meet the criteria for being disabled - they both cant walk unaided - one of them has a double hip replacement and the other has ahd multiple strokes, aint no one gonna stop me parking in one even though I myself am not disabled, they need the easier access. At least the balls are in motion to get the inlaws there deserved blue badge, there are tooo many out there that dont deserve them as said before it make a mockery of the system.
Rant over :mad:You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

You will not have seen it as many times as the people that sit there waiting for a parking space have done.
If Barbie has a party frock on and is clutching 2 bottles of bubbly I guess she hasn't gone for mums presciption.
If it's not Barbie it's Supermum with junior Einstein or Bob the Builder and his mate.
I don't use the spaces unless I need to so why should they? Could it just be selfishness?
;)
Invisible disability heh,
, best not get me stated on that. I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Invisible disability heh,
, best not get me started on that.
You can start on it if you like, I enjoy the discussion.
As well as having disabled relatives (2 with an completely invisible but lifelong and genuine disability) I have also worked as a driver for disabled people (pretty much every disability you could name, not just physical) and was previously a Manager in Disability Advice.
I find your post bigoted, I am afraid, which is a shame as I know you've posted it from the viewpoint of a disabled person yourself.
Are you saying that Barbie cannot buy wine if she has cancer, or that Mum with Junior Einstein may not be disabled either, or even Bob the Builder and his mate may not meet the DDA definition of disability? I know a scaffolder who is recovering from a heart attack, for instance, who is doing a couple of days work a week and might be seen in a van at a Supermarket - he meets the DDA definition but you wouldn't know it - you would judge him as 'just a builder'.
Surely you are not one of those who thinks those over 65 and/or a Blue Badge holders ONLY have a God-given right to a private parking space, but other disabled people do not?

Taken in the context of my post yes I am saying that. There simply are people that just ignore these arrangements
Please keep it friendly, biggoted? no, opinionated of course.
Look I will bow out of this, there will be no winner.
I have had my say and it is from an observant position rather than from someone with a grouse.
If you honestly think the people I see hogging the da spots in my local shopping centre are doing so for any reason other than personnal convienience then fine.
I've said earlier, the planning is wrong, 3 da parking spaces and no mum/child ones in a 100+space carpark.
Even you will agree that's going to cause friction?
I park defensively. and yes as said I often use 1 1/2 spaces, I have to do, I can't get out the car otherwise.
I will leave the last word for you but it's simple, any system has it's abusers, you can't expect it to be accepted.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Yeah, I agree 100% on that.
It's why I said this to jellytastic, just a few posts up:Coupon-mad wrote: »
But I firmly believe you should be mad at the RETAILER for not providing enough 'disabled' bays if they are usually full. This is a basic provision under the DDA and if the spaces are usually full then they need to paint some more in the spaces nearest the store.
Opinionated, OK that's a better word. Me too!
