Agreed about removing "stunning" from the title, you want as many keywords in there as possible.

    Something like:
Maggie Sottero White Satin Wedding corset dress size 14 16
(although that might be a couple of characters over)

As for adding a reserve, this tends to put me off bidding.
If all elese fails & the dress doesn't seem to be reaching the price you want, you could cancel the listing instead.

Yeah im agreeing with bubbles, you havent put the name of the dress on there?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • Bear in mind that a lot of Ebayers won't bid 'til as late as possible to try and get a bargain!

I would definitely add the name.

Also add a photo of the original Maggie Sottero label inside.

I would mention the year of your wedding - as you don't say it could be a 10 or 15 year old dress, especially as you say you've moved house since and had a baby; makes it seem longer than it's been. Don't say five years ago but say 2005 or whenever it was as that doesn't sound very old. :)

I only read it quickly but I think you said originally the dress is still made, if so, add a link to the Maggie website page about it and mention that it's a current style.

With the heading, as others have said you don't need stunning - anyone looking at Maggie dresses will know they are. :D Add the name of the dress and can you capitalise it? I.e. Maggie Sottero Dress Name Wedding Dress 14/16. Sounds minor but it just looks better.

I would add a sub-title to the listing saying something like "Superb condition. Been dry-cleaned. Original cost £1,400." Get the original cost in there as people love to get a bargain. :)

I'd change your main pic of the one on the body figure. It makes it easier to see on the listings.. :)

Sorry if someone mentioned that already!

Yep - I agree, but I had it listed like that the 4 previous times I've listed it and not a sausage of interest. Next time I'll swap it back or to another one on the manequin...

Sarah - I'll take a pic of the label later - didn't think of that! And mention the age. I can't post a picture to the maggie site as they discontinued it last year, but some american sites are still selling it (legit ones) presumably from stock they already have. Should I link to them? Even so, they are cheaper than I paid for it (what with them being US sites) so not sure if I should do that?

The dress is called Royal Romance and I didn't put it in before because I personally thought it was a bit of a naff name and might put people off lol!!

I am going to let this listing run it's course (3 days left) then make all the suggested changes (adding a BIN, adding a sub title, changing the title, etc, etc - all appreciated points, thank you).

Can someone clarify the ebay pricing thing for me though?

If I put a BIN for say £160, then put a starting bidding price of £99 then put a reserve of £150 how does that work? if the bidding doesn't reach £150 does it just not sell (so another wasted listing?) Bit confused with all strategic thinking lol!

I would buy it if i saw a BIN of £150.

...must stop looking.... must stop looking....

I wanted to buy it at £185 and it wouldn't even fit me! It is a gorgeous dress - Have you got any other pics of the veil OP, and would you maybe possibly sell seperately?

I was just on ebay and there was something about free listing if you use the iphone app up until the 29th - I think, I can't get the link to open for me

Ah ok, I wouldn't include the links then. Sorry, I thought it was one Maggie still made.

Hmmm, I see what you mean about the name! Maybe then keep the title as something like Maggie Sottero Satin Lace-Up Wedding Dress 14/16. Mention the name on the description page - people will already have seen pics by then.

Yep, you're right, if you do start of £99, reserve of £150 and BIN of £160, if bidding doesn't reach £150 and no-one uses BIN, the dress won't sell.

Personally, I never bid on auctions with a reserve - I just can't be bothered. People will also probably assume the reserve is £160 if you have that BIN.

Why not start at £149.99 if you're set on getting £150 for it? Then you don't need the reserve.

I think you've got a smaller market than most dress sellers as some people won't want a 2-piece dress. Have you looked at what other genuine Maggie dresses are selling for at the moment? I think you're likely to have to accept a slightly lower price TBH....

What about waiting a little while, I'm not sure when people buy dresses but we're mid wedding season now so I'd imagine everyone has them for this year, maybe try again later in the year or the start of next year?
(I know people do get married at other times of the year but this is 'wedding season' you'll have a better chance of selling it in a high demand time)

The description seems very wordy & so the important details don't stand out.

Find out the actual cost for the courier service - everything is cut & dried that way.

I'd cut out the reasons for selling etc - too much information.

If it was still in the shops last year, I'd say so.
