Let me get this straight - you've spent the best part of £500 - 700 on the Blu-Ray player, goodness knows what else on the TV, and you're looking for a full surround system of commensurate quality for...... £200 ???

    Doesn't this seem a bit dis-proportionate?

My recommendation would be to spend your £200 on a straightforward stereo amp & speakers from Richer Sounds, and use the stereo audio outs from the player to feed this. Meanwhile save your pennies for the surround system later.

No I spent £249 on the player and bought the telly a couple of years ago for £600.

I'm with googler again on the budget you've set.

You can buy surround speaker systems which - instead of having a separate receiver/decoder/amplifer - have a simple decoder/amplifier built into the subwoofer which then feeds the five centre/surround speakers.

But I reckon you will be very disappointed at the quality of sound you get as a result.

Richer also sell this Panasonic system that's exactly on your budget - it supports HDMI, but ~not~ HD Audio, so you'll (in theory at least) be making a compromise on sound quality.

Then I'm happy to go for the £300 one, that's why I asked for peoples opinions to make sure I understood what I needed. No point in spending and wasting it.
