Nothing that would constitute a satisfactory result - the FIL is back this weekend and will hopefully speak to the guy early next week. The FIL's said it's his responsibility and will pay for the fitting and repair which obviously works out ok for us but, obviously, we feel guilty about this and don't believe the crook of a fitter should have £160 of anyone's money! Will see after he'd spoken to him though.

Perhaps show him this thread. It may help show that your feelings are correct rather than emotionally instinctive.

Afraid not VW :( We had another company in 2 days ago who fitted our other 2 carpets for £55! They confirmed it was a mess and did what they could to repair the join for us (better but the pile direction's still pretty noticable).

My FIL gave us £100 of the £160 fitting, which obviously I'm grateful for the gesture but still resent having £60 of my own money in this mug's pocket!

On the plus side the FIL says he won't be getting any more work out of them. Oh, and we also had a baby boy last night who'll hopefully be pleased with his new carpet :T
