Flight to Boston advice please

Hello.
I want to fly from Heathrow to Boston (direct flight) on 19th Jan 2007 and return on 28th Jan 2007. I've looked at lastminute/opodo/expedia etc. and I've checked Virgin and BA's own websites. The best price I can get at the moment is around the £307 mark for BA, Virgin and American Airlines. Does anyone know if this is a typical price for this time of year? Or is there a chance of that price coming down if I leave it a while? I never know when the best time to book flights are so if anyone could give me some advice I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,

Gill

Have you considered flying with a stopover? May become a bit cheaper.

Booking direct with AA came out to £298.

You are flying off peak so you may be able to get it cheaper if you want to wait a while. Does this price include all the taxes? Some airlines usually have a promotion with 2 for 1 Jan- Mar and Boston is usually one of the cheapest destinations.
I would be looking to pay about £229 + taxes, (and you'd be unlikely to get that on a 2for 1 deal). they usually hike the prices up for those promotions.
sorry just read that back, does it make sense? So your price if tax inc usn't so far off. Good Luck! Boston is a nice city. Great shops and seafood!!

I can get it for £227 with a stopover but I don't want to do that for two reasons.

    1. It adds 3-4 hours to the journey usually.
    2. I've had bad experiences missing connections due to delays on the first flight!

I've decided I want to pay a little extra to fly direct and I just want to get it as cheap as I can. Thanks though.

Yes, the price includes taxes, fees and surcharges. In fact, when it's broken down the price for the flights are £172 and taxes/fees etc. are £135.80 making it a total of £307.80 with BA. Does this mean that this is as cheap as it's likely to get?

You don't fancy the lGW-JFK for £169 inc taxes and then flying JFk-BOS? Or even driving up?

:D I think from Heathrow to Boston (lincolnshire) is about 160 ish miles> Seems a bit bizzare to fly there Its only got a tiny little airfield and i dont think you will get any duty free. :D

I've done Gatwick-Newark-Boston with Continental before and missed my flight to Boston because my first flight was delayed, and had to get a later one. Then on the return journey my first flight was delayed again! I then missed the last flight of the day to Gatwick and had to be put up in a hotel for the night. They could only offer me stand-by the next day so I chose to fly to Birmingham in order to get a guaranteed seat. It was this particular trip that put me off stop-overs!

In the past I've always gone for the cheapest flight possible but this time I'm putting convenience ahead of price - I still want the best deal I can get though! :)
